Chapter 310: Chapter 308: The Heavenly Dao’s Prophecy
Inside the Clear Night Sect, the Sect Leader and several elders exchanged glances as they discussed the plan sent over by the Demonic Sects.
One of the Immortal Sect elders spoke up. "For that woman to make that Demon listen to her, and to have the entire Demonic Sects swear undying loyalty to her, she must have some serious skills. And this plan... it’s indeed very detailed and practical."
Upon hearing this, another elder grew indignant. He clasped his hands behind his back and began pacing. "You’re just boosting their ego at our expense! The Immortal Sect and the Demonic Sects have always been mortal enemies. Are you suggesting we actually use this ridiculous plan? That would be an admission that our Immortal Sect is devoid of talent! Unacceptable! Absolutely not!"
Watching the elders below bicker, the Sect Leader of the Clear Night Sect pressed a hand to his forehead, looking pained.
He finally spoke. "Enough bickering. Do any of you have a better solution? We are facing an unknown danger—a bloodthirsty, savage race from the Outer Realms. This is no time to be talking about how the righteous and demonic can’t coexist. We should put aside our prejudices and unite against this external threat."
At that, a female elder standing below stepped forward. "I believe the Sect Leader is right. The invasion of the Outer Realms Race is a matter of life and death for the entire Cultivation World. We must work together to resist them."
Seeing that someone had stepped forward, another elder spoke up after some consideration. "The fact that the Demonic Sects sent us this comprehensive plan shows they’re thinking the same thing. I believe that even if our Immortal Sect doesn’t join forces with the Demonic Sects, we still need to consolidate all our powers and prepare in advance. We can’t wait for disaster to strike and descend into chaos. Even those Demon Cultivators know to unify all their strength to fend off an external invasion when disaster looms. As members of the Immortal Sect, are we to be outdone by them?"
His words garnered significant support, with many nodding in agreement.
"Yes... We must take action. We can’t let those Demon Cultivators laugh at us."
"We must show all the Cultivators in the world that our Immortal Sect is the true leader of the Righteous Path."
They were reluctant to admit it, but ever since the Bloodfiend Den came out with cell phones and the Demon Flame Short Video app, conversations everywhere inevitably turned to the Demon Cultivators. As a result, the Immortal Sect’s prestige had plummeted.
They had to do something.
Soon, the Immortal Sect made its decision.
Led by the Primal Heaven Sect, the Seven Great Celestial Sects united all the powers within the Immortal Sect and began making advance preparations.
The Immortal and Demonic Paths had always been in opposition, so they had no intention of truly working together with the Demonic Sects. However, as a gesture of unity, the Immortal Sect sent Celeste Grant a letter of thanks, along with terms for cooperation.
In short, the Immortal and Demonic Paths had reached a temporary truce. During this period, neither side was to backstab the other, and they would face the Outer Realms Race as a common enemy when the invasion of the Cultivation World began.
Furthermore, to avoid conflict, the Demonic Sects would consolidate their own forces, and the Immortal Sect would consolidate theirs. The two sides would remain separate, manage their own affairs, and not interfere with one another.
Meanwhile, in the Bloodfiend Den, Celeste Grant raised her eyes slightly, her gaze falling upon the message from the Immortal Sect hovering in the air.
Celeste Grant had no objections. This was for the best.
’If the Immortal and Demonic Paths truly worked together,’ Celeste Grant thought, ’I’m sure they’d start fighting amongst themselves before the Outer Realms Race even arrived.’
With this in mind, she raised her hand and used her Magic to write a single word in red below their message: "Read." Then, she added a sentence: "The Demonic Sects have no objections."
After leaving her reply, Celeste Grant waved her hand, and the message from the Immortal Sect flew back to its sender, untouched. Whatever the other party thought upon seeing her response was none of her concern.
Celeste Grant, for her part, had a meeting to prepare for.
Summoned by The Exalted One and his wife, the leaders of all the forces within the Demonic Sects, along with all the high-ranking members of the Bloodfiend Den, arrived at the Den at once. Even those who were away dropped what they were doing and returned immediately.
That afternoon, the sun shone brightly outside. The Council Hall was already packed to the brim—a sea of faces, each one a notoriously fearsome figure from the Demonic Sects. Unlike the influencer-perfect faces of the modern world, these individuals, whether ferocious or as refined as jade, all possessed an intimidating aura that no ordinary person would dare to challenge.
In other words, everyone present was a top-tier Demon from the Demonic Sects of the Cultivation World. The Archfiend, of course, was Javier Sinclair himself.
By the time Celeste Grant arrived at the Council Hall, everyone was already present. Each of them held a copy of the plan she had drafted.
Each person had their own distinct features; no two faces were alike.
One of them was particularly conspicuous: an old man near the entrance. His back was hunched, and black energy seeped from his body. Veins bulged on his face, one side of which was horribly pitted. Who knew what kind of Demon Sect’s Skills he had practiced to end up looking like that.
’In the Demonic Sects, I only value ability, not looks,’ Celeste thought. ’Even if someone is too hideous to look at, I’ll still give them an important position as long as they’re capable. After all, this is a Cultivation World where one’s Cultivation is paramount.’
Take Celeste Grant herself, for example. She looked like a sweet, mild-mannered girl who wouldn’t hurt a fly. Yet, the moment she appeared, all the Demon Cultivators in the room rose in unison to salute her.
"Greetings, Madam."
"Greetings, Madam."
"We greet you, Madam."
She raised her eyes slightly, her gaze sweeping across the room.
"Everyone is here," she said by way of greeting, then gestured with her hand. "No need for formalities. Please, be seated. The Exalted One is not present for today’s council; he has gone to study the Defense Array. I will be presiding."
"Yes, Madam."
"We await your arrangements, Madam."
"Please, sit."
Once they were seated, Celeste Grant looked out at the assembly. There were both men and women, and though men were in the majority, there was no small number of female cultivators. She surveyed them for a moment, gathered her thoughts, and then spoke. "You must all be curious as to why I’ve summoned you today. I’m sure some of you have already heard rumors."
At Celeste Grant’s words, many in the room nodded. Others, however, looked confused, turning their gazes to her, seeking an explanation.
Celeste’s expression turned serious as she pointed to the documents in their hands. "I trust you’ve all read the deployment plan that Nerida distributed. And yes, I have summoned you today to discuss a matter of great importance."
Seeing their focused, solemn expressions, Celeste Grant picked up the copy of the plan in front of her.
"What I am about to tell you concerns the prophecy sent down by the Heavenly Dao."
