Chapter 94: Chapter 94

Kieran’s POV

My wolf, Ronan, growled within me as I gripped the phone tighter, my jaw clenched and my eyes turning sharp as I listened to my private investigator’s useless report.

"What did you just say?" I snarled.

"M-Miss Kyra fled as soon as I arrived in this country, Alpha Kieran. She returned to her home country. The reason why I was unable to—"

"Shut the fuck up!" I ended the call and grabbed my whiskey bottle so hard it almost broke.

So that’s what gets you out of hiding, my sweetheart? Your daddy’s precious collection at auction? I laughed and took a long drink. The whiskey burned going down, matching the heat of my blood. Damn, if I’d known this would work, I would’ve sold his shit piece by piece five years ago.

Damn, babe! You’re making me so damn crazy! You’re so fucking smart. That sexy brain of yours, always three steps ahead—that’s why I can’t get you out of my head. Why I’ll never stop loving you.

I took a deep breath. My wolf, Ronan, paced restlessly inside me, impatient to take back what’s ours.

I laughed like a madman and took a direct swig of alcohol. You’ve been hiding from me for five whole years. The chase is over, my Luna. Tomorrow night, you return to where you belong—with me. Fuck Anderson. He never had any right to touch you.

I clenched my jaw. You can’t hide her from me anymore, Nathan. Kyra’s connection to her father runs deeper than anything else in her world. She treasures his memories, his possessions, and I’ve played that to perfection.

"Kieran!"

My lips curled in disgust as Amanda burst into my room, her pathetic frame trembling with fear.

"K-Kieran, someone followed me at the mall. I think... I think someone’s trying to kill me."

I arched an eyebrow. "No one wants to end your miserable life more than I do. Perhaps it’s your husband’s spirit coming to drag you into whatever hell awaits you."

Her face drained of color. "Stop it! This isn’t funny!"

In a flash of movement too quick for her eyes, I crossed the room and wrapped my hand around her throat, feeling her pulse flutter wildly under my fingertips.

"I’m not being funny, Amanda," I said. "It’s your conscience haunting you. The nightmare of what you did will stalk you, driving you slowly insane until you take a blade to your own throat to end the torment." 𝕗𝚛𝚎𝚎𝐰𝗲𝗯𝗻𝚘𝚟𝚎𝗹.𝕔𝐨𝕞

She dropped to her knees, sobbing. "Help me, please... I’ll do anything you want."

I laughed, the sound cold and hollow even to my own ears. "What value could you possibly offer, Amanda? You’re nothing but used goods. I already have a female to satisfy my needs. If you die, everything falls directly into my hands—this mansion, all of it. You’ll bear the consequences alone."

"No, Kieran! Please!"

"If you lacked the backbone to face the fallout, you shouldn’t have murdered that old man," I snarled, shoving her to the floor. "He still had uses for me, but you ruined that, just like you ruin everything you touch."

I slammed the door behind me and stalked out of the house. I pulled out my phone and dialed Emily.

"What?" her voice snapped through the speaker.

"Get your fucking cunt ready, bitch! Be sure to be lying naked when I get there," I commanded, ending the call before she could respond.

Just you wait, Kyra, babe. Soon you’ll have no choice but to return to me, and when you do, there’s nothing you can do to escape again. You were always meant to be mine alone. I’ll even accept Anderson’s bastard child—what other Alpha would be so magnanimous? What more could you possibly want?

Just thinking about Nathan Anderson made me want to kill something. That weakling never deserved to touch what was mine. Soon I’ll teach that bastard what happens when you steal from me.

Nathan’s POV

"You’re going to that auction." My father tried his Alpha command on me, as if I still gave a damn about his orders. I just sat there, staring at my cold dinner while Alaric, my wolf, growled inside me.

Kyra’s been missing for five years now. I’m not that same weak son anymore, always begging for daddy’s approval. Searching for her night after night changed me. Made me harder. Colder.

"Nathan!" My father snapped. "I’m talking to you."

I looked up at him, ice in my eyes. "I heard you. Don’t care."

"Son!"

"Disrespectful little shit!"

"Don’t you dare talk to my grandson like that!" Grandma cut in from her seat next to Grandpa. Even as old as she was, her wolf’s power still made my father obey.

"He’s not respecting me, Mother," Dad growled.

"That’s your own damn fault," she fired back. "You want respect? You should’ve shown him some when he was just your kid, not now when he’s taken your place as the pack’s Alpha. Nathan can handle things on his own now, you can’t scold him like this anymore."

I stood up, my chair making a loud noise. "I’m out."

"Nathan..." Grandma’s soft voice stopped me. "Do what you need to do, baby. Don’t worry about us. Just find your peace."

"Mom, he’d search every corner of the world for Kyra, even if it kills him. He’s too stubborn to know when to stop," Dad snorted.

Grandpa slammed the table hard. "Stop pushing your son toward self-destruction!"

I didn’t say anything. I just walked out. What’s the point? Five years of arguments had taught me that words changed nothing.

I had no real reason to go to this auction. But hell, I had nothing better to do. Maybe it would keep my mind off Kyra for a few hours.

The place was packed when I got there. I grabbed a whiskey and sat alone, watching everyone like a hawk. Every blonde-haired woman made my heart skip until I got a good look. Not her. Never her.

Then that bastard showed up.

Kieran Carver walked in like he owned the damn place. His scent of cedar and musk hit me, and Alaric went nuts, ready to tear him apart. Just seeing his face made my blood burn.

Five years. I’d spent five years looking for Kyra. Paid off everyone I could find. Got nothing. That son of a bitch must have her hidden somewhere. The thought of him keeping her locked up, especially with their kid, made me see red.

No real Alpha would pull this shit. But Kieran Carver was always more of a wild dog than a true Alpha.

I could feel Alaric fighting to come out. Damn, I needed some air before I started a pack war right here. I rushed outside and lit a smoke with shaking hands, taking a deep drag.

If it were just about me, I would have challenged Carver to a death match years ago. I wasn’t the same wolf he’d known before. I had spent these years training, hardening, and preparing. The gentle Nathan who had let Kyra slip away was gone.

But starting a war wouldn’t help find Kyra. I needed her safe first. After that, Carver better pray to the Moon Goddess for mercy. I didn’t care how cruel people said he was. When that day came, he’d learn what real rage looked like.

I finished my smoke and headed back in. Just a few more minutes in this useless party.

Then it happened. Someone crashed right into me. I grabbed her waist before she fell and twisted her ankle. The second I touched her, it felt like lightning hit me. Alaric went crazy, howling in my head.

No way...

I looked down and my whole world stopped. Those eyes... that face I’d been dreaming about for five years. She was real. Right here. My dead heart suddenly started beating again.

"K...Kyra..." Her name came out as a whisper.
