Chapter 344: Shaymin (Two-in-One)
After hearing the translation, Rio fell silent for a long moment, then finally spoke. He had come here to capture them — and now Mewtwo had just let Palkia and Dialga go to the real world to undergo Origin Forme evolution. This was making things harder for himself.
"What’s wrong?" Mewtwo asked, thinking Rio doubted its ability to beat a fully evolved Palkia and Dialga. "Don’t worry — I can defeat them."
Rio chuckled inwardly. He couldn’t say for sure whether Mega Evolved Mewtwo could beat Origin Forme Palkia and Dialga — but it definitely wouldn’t be able to dominate like before.
"I suggest we follow them now, before they cause even more trouble." Rio said. "Gengar, use your time power to open a rift."
Gengar, like Dialga, possessed time power. If Dialga could travel from the dimensional space to the real world, Gengar should be able to as well. Following Rio’s command, Gengar gathered Roar of Time in its mouth and reopened the rift that Palkia and Dialga had just torn open. A dimensional portal appeared.
Meanwhile, in the Sinnoh region, Palkia and Dialga had emerged from the dimensional space into the real world. They exchanged glances, snorted, and turned away from each other. Though they now had to cooperate against a common enemy, they were still enemies at heart — rivals who had encroached on each other’s territory. That grudge wouldn’t just disappear.
Where is my Adamant Orb? Palkia began sensing for the mythical item that would allow it to undergo Origin Forme.
Where is my Lustrous Orb? Dialga did the same.
Neither noticed a certain giant creature that had taken notice of them.
In the Distortion World, Giratina spotted Palkia and Dialga through a vast lake the moment they entered the real world. Its eyes were filled with cold fury.
"Giratina!!!" — Good! These two idiots dared to come to the real world! Fine — today, I’m dragging one of them into my world and beating them senseless!
High above, Palkia searched for a while and finally located its Lustrous Orb. Dialga did the same — but after sensing its orb, it suddenly felt thirsty and flew down toward the forest below. Palkia, seeing that, also felt thirsty and followed.

This move made Giratina in the Distortion World ecstatic.
"Giratina!!!" — Excellent! They want to drink water! It seems they’ve forgotten I exist — forgotten that all lakes and mirrors are places I can appear!
Giratina flew toward the lake where Dialga and Palkia were descending, waiting silently for the two fools to land. Soon, it got its chance. Dialga landed first, lowering its head to drink. Palkia landed on the other side and did the same. Both glared at each other — so focused on their mutual hatred that they didn’t notice a whirlpool forming in the center of the lake.
The whirlpool grew rapidly from weak to strong. By the time they noticed, a tornado burst from the whirlpool, sending the nearest — Dialga — flying, then holding it suspended in midair, unable to break free. Palkia was startled, not understanding what was happening — until, two seconds later, a creature that looked like neither bug nor dragon burst out.
Palkia realized who it was: Giratina. The Pokémon Arceus should have unmade when creating the world.
But this Pokémon, which Palkia thought should have been unmade, bit Dialga’s front leg and started dragging it into the lake.
"Dialga!!!" — Help me! Help me, Palkia!
Dialga cried out for help. Palkia spread its wings, ready to intervene — but seeing Giratina’s vicious glare, it froze.
"Palkia!!!" — You’re on your own. Bye!
Palkia promptly abandoned its comrade, flapping its wings and taking off.
"Dialga!!!" — Palkia, you coward! I’ll kill you for this!
Dialga was furious — it couldn’t fight Giratina, so it could only curse Palkia’s betrayal. And so, Dialga was dragged into the lake by Giratina.
"Palkia!!!" — Hmph. We’ll deal with that later. Getting out of that lunatic’s grip is a problem for another day.
Palkia didn’t care. It flew toward where it sensed its Lustrous Orb.
Just then, another dimensional portal opened in the sky. Gengar emerged with Mewtwo, Rio, and Charizard — right in Palkia’s path. Palkia stopped, thinking Mewtwo had changed its mind.
"What are you doing?! I told you — let me reach full power first, and then we’ll fight!" Palkia telepathically demanded.
"Actually, I’ve changed my mind. After I capture you, then you can enter Origin Forme and fight Mewtwo." Rio smiled.
"Capture me?" Palkia’s eyes widened. "Human, you’ve got guts — daring to even think of capturing me!"
"Mewtwo, go! Now, while we’re in the forest where no humans are watching!" Rio waved.
Mewtwo Y raised its right hand, forming several Aura Spheres and firing them at Palkia, forcing it to scramble with Dragon Claw. Rio looked around and noticed someone was missing.
"Hm? Where’s Dialga? Didn’t it come out with Palkia?"
As he spoke, a roar came from below.
"Dialga!!!" — Help!
Rio looked down — Dialga’s head emerged from a dimensional portal on the lake’s surface. Just as it was about to escape, something dragged it back under.
"Giratina?" Rio’s first thought was the Distortion World god. Only Giratina loved to emerge from reflective surfaces like lakes and mirrors.

Moments later, Dialga was dragged back in. "Poor Dialga." Rio muttered. Among Sinnoh’s three gods, Giratina was the strongest — like Rayquaza among Hoenn’s trio, able to beat the other two senseless. Together, Dialga and Palkia wouldn’t stand a chance.
"Oh no — Palkia’s getting away!" Old Ghost’s voice rang out. Rio turned — Palkia was fleeing at Extreme Speed, with Mewtwo chasing behind. Rio felt a twinge of exasperation. He was sure Mewtwo was holding back — there was no way it couldn’t catch Palkia.
Oh well. Can’t force it. Rio sighed. Mewtwo’s personality was just too upright — if it promised to let Palkia enter Origin Forme, it would keep that promise. That was exactly what Mewtwo was doing now — it didn’t want to be seen as someone who broke its word.
"Dialga!!!" — Help!!!
As Rio pondered, another roar came from the lake. He looked down — Dialga again, its head emerging from the water.
"Should we help it? It’s calling for help." Gengar’s voice echoed in his mind.
"Not yet. The creature behind Dialga is not someone to mess with." Rio shook his head. If he rescued Dialga now, Giratina would hold a grudge forever. Among Sinnoh’s three gods, Giratina was the most vengeful and hot-tempered — which was exactly why Arceus had banished it to the Distortion World. And it was incredibly strong — in Origin Forme, it was on par with Mega Rayquaza.
"Dialga!!!" — Help!!!
Dialga kept calling for help — first to Palkia, then, seeing Palkia gone, to Gengar. But Gengar, following Rio’s orders, ignored it. Dialga was dragged back in to be beaten.
On its third attempt, a turn of events occurred. From the Distortion World, a hedgehog-like Pokémon used its signature move, briefly affecting Giratina and giving Dialga a chance to escape — and even sending a time-based attack at Giratina, trapping it in a time loop.
"Shaymin?" Rio, watching the lake closely, spotted the hedgehog-like Pokémon emerging from the Distortion World.
"Let’s go! Catch it!" Rio urged Charizard to pursue.
"What about Dialga?" Gengar’s voice echoed.
Shaymin had fled, and Dialga had also escaped. "Dialga..." Rio looked back at the relieved Dialga. "Hold it down. Don’t let it find its Adamant Orb. One of them being able to use Origin Forme is enough — Palkia’s already out there. I’ll come back for Dialga once I catch Shaymin."
"Got it." Gengar nodded, cackling as it floated toward Dialga, a Shadow Ball forming in its hand.
Dialga, fresh out of the Distortion World, saw Gengar approaching and felt like today was just one disaster after another. First fighting Palkia, then Gengar, then Giratina — and now Gengar again. Was there no end to this?
"There it is, Charizard!"
On the other side, Rio directed Charizard to land in front of a small, coal-like creature. The creature shivered in fear.
"It’s okay, Shaymin. I’m not a bad person. I’m here to take care of you." Rio flashed a friendly grin — and smiled even wider when he saw its level information.

[Description: A Mythical Pokémon with two forms — Land Forme and Sky Forme. When exposed to a Gracidea flower during the day, Shaymin transforms into Sky Forme. It has the power to decompose toxins in the atmosphere and turn barren lands into flower fields in an instant. ]
A legendary-tier Shaymin... Rio’s eyes shone with approval and excitement. Though Shaymin were relatively common among Mythical Pokémon, a legendary-tier one was the most rare and important of its kind. And he just happened to run into one.
At that moment, Shaymin was still trembling, looking at them in terror — especially at Charizard, who loomed over it with a stern expression.
"Charizard, smile." Rio patted Charizard.
"Roooar~" — Hello.
Charizard grinned — though the expression looked more terrifying than friendly, which would scare most Pokémon. But Shaymin, sensitive to intent, sensed no real hostility and relaxed slightly.
"Hello." Shaymin’s voice echoed in Rio’s mind — as a Mythical Pokémon, it could use telepathy.
"Hello, Shaymin." Rio quickly pulled out a bottle of water. "Would you like to take a bath? And could you tell me what happened — how did you end up coming out of the Distortion World with Dialga?"
"Thank you." Shaymin’s voice was like a young girl’s. It walked up to Rio and waited for him to help it wash, then began telling its story:
"I don’t really know what happened. I came to the lake for a drink, and then two big guys crashed down from the sky. They were also drinking — one of them was pretty close to me. But then, while it was drinking, something attacked it. A new giant burst out of the lake — really strong. It grabbed the one closest to me and dragged it in, and I got pulled in too, into this strange Distortion World."
"I ran and ran. They fought and fought — but one of them kept getting beaten up..."
