Chapter 1506: Chapter 1502: Beyond the Summit

"It’s true, using this item will be problematic. Giratina is a top-tier legendary Pokémon; the energy of its scale is far too dominant—it’s not something an ordinary Pokémon can easily absorb."

"Besides, more than how to use it, what really intrigues me is... how the hell did the Sacred Church obtain such a valuable scale?" Cain said, bright glints flashing in his eyes.

That was a reverse scale of a Dragon-type legendary Pokémon. Without special connections, no one could obtain something like that.

There were only two ways to get it.

The first was for Giratina to give it voluntarily. The second was to subdue Giratina and forcibly tear it off.

To Cain, both options seemed impossible.

Giratina was an extremely egocentric Pokémon; willingly accepting such a great loss was something it would hardly tolerate.

The second option seemed even more absurd.

Not even Arceus could subdue Giratina—at most, it could expel it. Thinking that someone could knock it to the ground and beat it was ridiculous.

Cain did not believe that the mysterious bishop of the Sacred Church possessed such power. If he did, there would be no need to hide; he could conquer an entire region without difficulty.

Seen this way, the first possibility seemed slightly more plausible.

As Sherlock Holmes said: once all impossible possibilities are eliminated, whatever remains, no matter how improbable, must be the truth.

At least... at least it was not impossible that Giratina was involved with the Sacred Church.

In fact, thinking more deeply, it was possible that the Sacred Church was, in a certain sense, an organization controlled by Giratina.

What if...?

What if what was inside the barrier on the mountain was never what the Sacred Church desired, but rather something Giratina wanted?

Following that line of thought, Cain felt that he might have touched upon a terrifying secret.

Something for which Giratina was willing to sacrifice a reverse scale had to be a treasure whose value surpassed even that scale.

And that object... was now practically within his reach.

The excitement in Cain’s heart was difficult to suppress. A treasure of that level could directly change the fate of one or several Pokémon.

But the more critical the moment, the more important it was to remain calm and not be swept away by euphoria.

Cain slowly sat down on the ground. Giratina’s reverse scale was an unquestionable treasure, but how to use it safely and without side effects was a problem that greatly troubled him.

He looked at Darkrai, who was resting, and then at Tyranitar and Aggron, both on guard, before activating the system.

Item Name: Reverse Scale of the Dragon of the Underworld – Giratina (Damaged)

Description: The most precious reverse scale of the Pokémon that rules the Distortion World. It contains Giratina’s purest energy and its exclusive aura. Due to how terrifying this energy is, if one does not have absolute certainty, it is better not to approach it, or one risks disappearing completely.

Function: Unknown. Although it is damaged, this could be an advantage.

Note: This item is extremely dangerous. If there is no other solution, one may consider absorbing the energy in parts, but without sufficient willpower, one could be assimilated by the energy and become an empty shell without consciousness.

After the scan, the system displayed the item’s name in bright red letters, clearly warning of its danger.

But there was one sentence from the system that Cain found particularly accurate.

Although this reverse scale of Giratina was damaged for various reasons, that damage was, for Cain and his Pokémon, an advantage.

If it had been a complete scale, Cain would not have even had the chance to touch it. Now, its incomplete state gave him an opportunity.

"Darkrai, what method do you think could be used to make good use of this scale?" Cain asked.

Among all his Pokémon, the one who best understood Giratina’s energy was undoubtedly Darkrai, followed by Gengar. After all, Darkrai had directly fought Giratina in the past.

Darkrai observed the black scale in Cain’s hand, felt the aura he so deeply detested, took a deep breath, and fell into deep thought.

What Darkrai detested was Giratina itself, not the scale as such. And he also knew that this scale could bring about an enormous qualitative change in one or several of Cain’s Pokémon.

Moreover, using it would be a direct blow against Giratina—something Darkrai would be more than willing to witness.

"Darkaaii!" After a moment of silence, Darkrai spoke softly.

Cain’s eyes lit up instantly.

"It’s a method worth trying. But before that, it’s best to confirm the state of the surroundings and make sure it’s safe," he said.

For the time being, Cain was in no hurry to search for the hidden object inside the barrier. It was clear that it had to be somewhere.

Without a good understanding of the environment, the most important thing was to ensure his safety.

Then, Cain had Tyranitar and Aggron investigate the area.

Although it was supposedly the mountain’s summit, it looked more like another unknown secret domain. There were enormous ancient trees that Cain had never seen before, and aside from the vegetation, there did not seem to be other living beings.

Or rather, there were small wild animals, but no Pokémon.

After making three complete rounds with Tyranitar and Aggron, Cain confirmed that there was not a single wild Pokémon, and that the size of the space was not very large; traversing it entirely took less than half an hour.

With no wild Pokémon, there were no obvious threats.

But after those three rounds, Cain detected a problem. 𝙛𝒓𝓮𝒆𝔀𝒆𝙗𝓷𝒐𝙫𝒆𝙡.𝒄𝓸𝓶

Apart from its ancient vegetation, there was nothing special about that place.

However, a place for which Giratina was willing to sacrifice a reverse scale, and which Dialga and Palkia considered so important, could not be that simple.

Cain told himself that it was only because he had not yet discovered the hidden secret.

In any case, he would probably have to stay there for quite some time, so there was no rush.

The area was small; if in the end he found nothing, he could search the entire place from top to bottom without too much effort.

Things had to be done step by step. With no threats present, Cain could finally calm down and focus on his own matters.

First: find a suitable place to live.

It had to be said—although there were no wild Pokémon in this place, the ecosystem was quite good. There was a complete biological chain, so resources like water were not scarce at all.

Cain found a small lake in the center of the area and decided to settle there directly.

Then he summoned all of his Pokémon. Even if there were no wild Pokémon to hone real combat, that did not prevent their daily training.
