Chapter 211: Wonder Of North
Song Liangxue wanted them to enjoy their time together a bit more, so she decided to take them to a wondrous place hidden within the upper ridges of Everfrost.
As the carriage turned onto a steep mountain path leading further north, Ye Jun looked out the window and suddenly remembered something. He turned his head toward his fiancée.
"Wait, didn’t you say we were heading into the central district to select my formal attire for the upcoming banquet?" Ye Jun asked, raising an eyebrow. "If we’re heading up the peaks now, when am I supposed to buy those clothes?"
Song Liangxue casually leaned back against the plush fur cushions, offering a completely unbothered smile.
"Don’t worry about it, love," she replied easily. "The woman who owns the premier clothier boutique in the capital is a close associate of our core branch. The moment she heard you had arrived, she already prepared her finest fabrics. She will come to the ancestral palace herself tomorrow morning with her entire selection. You can choose whatever fits your taste then."
Ye Jun let out a short chuckle, sliding his hands comfortably inside his sleeves. Having the absolute backing of a Great Clan certainly removed a massive amount of minor logistical headaches.
As the carriage rode smoothly through the rising mountain terrain, the quiet clattering of the Rhyshadiums’ hoofbeats allowed his mind to drift. He found himself thinking deeply about his recent battle with Yuan Chen.
If he was being completely honest, he had thoroughly enjoyed that brief martial clash. It was the very first time in this life that he had faced a consolidated Origin Realm cultivator in a proper arena, and before stepping onto the ironstone platform, he hadn’t been entirely confident in securing a clean defeat over him.
The major realm disparity was supposed to be a massive structural wall, so even he was mildly surprised by the sheer output of his current combat prowess.
Granted, Ye Jun was well aware that Yuan Chen hadn’t truly gone all out during their short duel.
He was absolutely sure that a top-tier young master from a prominent northern lineage like the Iron-Gale Clan possessed multiple lethal trump cards and hidden saving methods that he simply chose not to deploy. It wasn’t a life-and-death battle in the wild, so wasting those restricted resources inside a friendly capital plaza simply wasn’t worth the cost.
Most importantly, Yuan Chen hadn’t triggered his Origin Ability either.
That was the hallmark of the Origin Realm. Once a cultivator broke through that massive threshold, they successfully tapped directly into their soul’s origin, unlocking a unique Origin Ability.
Sometimes, absolute monsters could manifest more than one, but every single cultivator at that stage possessed at least one primary trait.
An Origin Ability could be tied directly to one’s hereditary bloodline, but it could also manifest from a deeply refined elemental affinity. As far as Ye Jun knew, his mother-in-law, Song Yanyan, was the absolute perfect example of this mechanical system.
Her hereditary clan bloodline belonged strictly to the ice element, yet her core affinity had naturally inverted toward a rampant fire flame. Consequently, even her unique Origin Ability was deeply intertwined with the laws of fire, granting her the supreme title of Heaven’s Last Ember.
Ye Jun wasn’t entirely sure how the scales would have tipped if Yuan Chen had fully activated his gravity-based Origin Ability and gone all out from the start.
But then again, there was also the undeniable fact that he hadn’t gone all out either.
He had his own lethal triumph cards, his system parameters, and his heavy weapon skills tightly sealed throughout the entire match. If both of them had fought with the intent to kill, the final outcome of the battle wasn’t a guaranteed win for either side.
Still, a profound sense of satisfaction settled deep into his chest. Even as a newly ascended, Early-Stage Soul Tempering Realm cultivator, he was already capable of forcing an Origin Realm genius onto his back. What would happen once he completely consolidated his current cultivation base, mastered the next part of his sutra, and rose even further up the ranks?
He would become a true, undisputed monster.
The intense baptism of the Nine Purple Tribulations had truly granted him an absurd amount of hidden benefits, altering his baseline potential into something that completely defied the standard conventions of the regions.
He was suddenly pulled away from his silent thoughts when the open-topped carriage ground to a gentle halt.
"We’re here," Song Liangxue spoke up, her voice filled with a trace of soft anticipation.
Ye Jun blinked, turning his focus ahead, and what met his eyes completely transcended the common, rigid sense of earth architecture. It was a sight that truly suited the mystical, boundless scale of a cultivation world, existing just on the outer fringes of the northern capital.
Standing before them was the legendary wonder of the North: **The Glaciated Aether Falls**.
A massive, transparent canyon stretched between two towering white-marble peaks, but instead of a standard chasm, the entire space was filled with a colossal, frozen river that defied gravity itself. The water didn’t flow downward; it cascaded horizontally through the air in a massive, suspended highway of shimmering, glaciated spiritual fluid.
Thousands of large, crystal lotus platforms floated silently within the glowing stream, held aloft by the natural, dense Qi density of the mountain veins.
Because the area was situated directly beneath a unique convergence point of the Frostward Dome, the bitter, lethal gales of the outer wastes were entirely filtered out.
Instead, a serene, refreshing mist carrying the scent of ancient pine drifted across the plaza, illuminated by the soft, multi-colored prisms refracting through the levitating ice formations.
"It’s beautiful..." Meihui mumbled beside him, her dark eyes reflecting the brilliant silver and blue light waves dancing across the chasm. She unconsciously pulled down her hand fan, her transformed female features softening into a look of pure awe.
"I used to come here whenever the clan training became too suffocating," Song Liangxue smiled softly, stepping down from the carriage and reaching out to pull both of them forward. "Let’s go. Today, we forget about the sects, the clans, and the Convergence."
Ye Jun smiled, his bold, unbothered nature completely embracing the peaceful atmosphere. He walked hand-in-hand with them, stepping onto one of the massive, floating crystal lotus platforms situated at the edge of the overlook plaza.
The moment their boots touched the smooth, glass-like surface, the ancient runes etched into the base flared with a gentle silver light. Without a single jolt, the platform detached from the stone bank, drifting smoothly into the glowing, horizontal stream of the suspended river.
As the platform glided deeper into the canyon, they were completely surrounded by a world of pristine white and crystalline light.
Massive, lifelike ice sculptures of mythical birds and ancient frost dragons—carved entirely by the natural flow of water over thousands of years—loomed along the cliff walls, their translucent wings catching the pale winter sunlight to cast brilliant gold patterns over the water.
The air was pleasantly crisp, entirely devoid of the aggressive, biting cold that Ye Jun had to fight off with his Yang Circulation earlier. It felt alive, a serene sanctuary isolated from the rest of the world.
Song Liangxue completely shed her cold, imperial princess persona, her laughter ringing out across the canyon walls like small silver bells as she pointed out the various unique formations.
She stepped to the edge of the platform, letting her fingers trail through the levitating mist, turning back to smile at him with a warmth that completely captured his heart.
Meihui, too, let her guard down. Wrapped in her high-grade maid robes, she sat comfortably on a plush fur rug at the center of the lotus, her cheeks slightly flushed as she sampled a box of sweet local spirit pastries they had purchased earlier.
Every time Ye Jun caught her eye, she would offer a shy, small smile, entirely content to simply exist within this safe pocket of reality.
Ye Jun sat down beside them, pulling both of them close into his broad frame. For the first time since his soul had awakened in this world, the relentless, cold calculations of survival completely quieted down.
He didn’t think about the ominous, continent-flattening shadows of the Heretics. He didn’t parse through the chaotic, inconsistent mysteries surrounding the ancient entity known as the Lord. He didn’t even check his internal system panel to measure his attribute gains.
Inside this hidden canyon, beneath the soft, drifting snowflakes that melted harmlessly against their skin, there were no enemies to cut down, no treacherous elders to outsmart, and no family politics to navigate. There were only his two wives, the quiet resonance of their shared Qi, and the comforting warmth of a family that trusted him with their lives.
They spent hours floating through the suspended light paths, talking about completely trivial things, laughing at Ye Jun’s shameless jokes, and sharing the quiet peace they had thoroughly earned through blood and fire.
The frantic weight of reality simply couldn’t touch them here, leaving them entirely free to lose themselves within the timeless wonder of the northern peaks.
