A few days later, An Yiqing ended her week-long rest and accompanied Gu Yelin by car to the Gu Family.
Both of them were dressed formally, Gu Yelin in a black shirt with a blue tie and black trousers, An Yiqing in a sleeveless white shirt and wide-legged white suit trousers. Today was the day for them, as the third generation of the Gu Family since its establishment in Xuanjin, to visit the ancestral elders at the back mountain of the main residence.
The back mountain of the Gu Family’s main residence remained as quiet as ever. Old Master Gu stood outside the stone house with Gu Yelin and An Yiqing, waiting for the three elder ancestors of the Gu Family to call them in.
After an indefinite while, a long and deep voice came from inside the stone house: "The two young ones of the Gu Family, come in! The elder, go back."
Old Master Gu glanced at Gu Yelin and An Yiqing, offered a few reassuring words, and left hesitantly.
An Yiqing and Gu Yelin walked up to the door side-by-side, knocked three times lightly, and entered.
