Chapter 112: Chapter 112 Hierarchy

Later that night, Oliver headed to the cafeteria for dinner.

The cafeteria was very large, with numerous long tables and chairs arranged neatly in uniform rows. It was divided into two levels, an upper floor and a ground floor. The upper floor had noticeably fewer students compared to the crowded area below.

Right now, many students were lining up while collecting their meals.

Oliver then joined the queue. Suddenly, he noticed many students giving him strange looks. Oliver noticed it immediately but chose to ignore it. He simply continued moving forward until he reached the serving area.

He picked up a tray and began selecting his food. Even the cafeteria staff were looking at him strangely, as if they had just seen something unusual.

The menu for tonight consisted of mashed potatoes, sausages, a fish fillet, sliced chicken, and a glass of orange juice.

"It is actually a pretty good meal." Oliver muttered as he looked at the food on his tray. After that, he began searching for an empty seat.

Before long, he noticed someone waving at him enthusiastically.

It was Max.

Oliver immediately walked over and sat beside him and the rest of the group.

"How’s your dorm, Oliver? Is it nice? I’m sharing the same room with Henrik and Alex. To be honest, it’s a pretty large and comfortable room." Max said while stuffing a piece of food into his mouth.

"Errr... it is nice. Pretty much the same as yours." Oliver replied awkwardly.

’Do the other dorms actually have shared rooms? Why am I with a room only to myself?’ Oliver wondered.

Unknown to him, House Mythragon was the only House that provided single rooms for all of its students.

Meanwhile, Houses Noctis and Seraphyne assigned two students per room, while the other four Houses ranged from three to five students per room due to their much larger populations.

Just as Oliver was about to put a piece of food into his mouth, Henrik suddenly spoke.

"Are you sure you want to eat here?"

"Huh?" Oliver looked at him in confusion.

"Doesn’t your House usually eat upstairs? I heard that Mythragon, Noctis, and Seraphyne students all have their meals on the upper floor." Henrik asked. Henrik was a member of House Solmire, identifiable by the red uniform he was wearing.

Oliver paused and looked around. Only then did he notice it. Among the sea of red, blue, purple, and green uniforms surrounding him, there was only one gold uniform, his.

Oliver then looked toward the upper floor. From where he was sitting, he could see students dressed in gold, black, and white uniforms eating there.

At that moment, he finally understood why everyone had been giving him strange looks earlier. Apparently, he was sitting in the wrong section.

"Ah...so that’s why everyone was staring at me." Oliver scratched his cheek awkwardly.

"But it isn’t wrong to eat here, right? I actually prefer eating with you guys." Oliver said as he finally started digging into his food.

"Hahaha! That’s right! We are the commoners! We can only become strong when we stand together!" Max declared dramatically while raising his fork.

"What the hell are you even talking about?" Alex immediately said. He was also a member of House Celestwynn and shared the same room as Max.

The group burst into laughter. Oliver could not help but smile as well. For the first time in a very long while, he felt genuinely happy. He had finally found proper friends around his own age.

People he could casually eat, laugh, and spend time with. The feeling was surprisingly nice.

However, while Oliver was enjoying himself, several pairs of eyes were looking down on him from the upper floor.

"Hmph! Trash will always flock together with other trash."

A girl was staring at him from above while surrounded by several students.

She possessed long black hair, sharp eyes, and slightly tanned skin. The way she carried herself made it clear she was used to looking down on others.

All of them were wearing black uniforms, the members of House Noctis. Her gaze lingered on Oliver for several seconds before she continued eating her dinner.

On the other side of the upper floor, Kai was eating alone at his table with distant and cold eyes.

No one ever chose to sit with him and dared to start a conversation with him. The students nearby occasionally glanced at him before quickly looking away. The reputation surrounding Kai was simply too frightening for most people.

However, a few tables away from him, a girl was staring at him with sparkling eyes.

"Ahh... even when he’s eating, he’s so cool!" Gloria said while gazing at Kai dreamily.

"Hey, Gloria! Eat your food before it gets cold." one of the girls at her table reminded her.

"Ahh! Alright, alright!"

Gloria immediately returned to her meal, although her eyes still occasionally wandered toward Kai. She was currently sitting together with three other girls from House Seraphyne.

The House was well known for having the most unbalanced ratio between male and female students, with females greatly outnumbering the males.

Sitting directly across from Gloria was Ophelia. Unlike Gloria, who was cheerful and energetic, Ophelia was much quieter and more reserved. She rarely spoke unless necessary.

The two of them were also roommates in the dormitory.

"Hey, can we bring some of this food back to our room? I’m afraid I’ll get hungry later tonight." Gloria suddenly asked.

"Are you not afraid of getting fat from eating late at night? We are noble ladies. We need to maintain our appearance, you know. It is one of the things that separates us from commoners." Felice asked while raising an eyebrow.

Felice was the daughter of a major noble family and was extremely strict when it came to status, etiquette, and appearance.

"Hmm...fine..." Gloria pouted unhappily before taking another bite of her food.

After dinner, Oliver returned to his room feeling satisfied. The hallway was much quieter now as most students had already returned to their respective dormitories.

Once inside, Oliver sat down on his bed and opened the system interface before him. As usual, the first thing he checked was the [Limited Offer] section.

His eyes carefully scanned through the various products being displayed. Unfortunately, nothing particularly caught his interest tonight. In the end, Oliver closed the menu.

He then changed into more comfortable clothes before climbing onto the bed. Tomorrow would be the first day of academy life.

A new environment, new classmates, new lessons and undoubtedly, new challenges. As he lay on the bed staring at the ceiling, a small smile appeared on his face.

"I wonder what tomorrow will be like."

With that thought in mind, Oliver slowly closed his eyes.

The first Chapter of his life at the Royal Academy of Cyden was about to begin.
