Chapter 733: Chapter 704: Love in a Parallel Universe [026]
Sienna Thorne was so infuriated by the security guard’s vicious sarcasm that her mind went blank and she blushed as she took out her phone to call Simon Forrester. But the call went through, and no one answered. She looked up at Simon Forrester’s office.
The office on the third floor with a large wall of floor-to-ceiling windows was lit. She thought, maybe Simon Forrester had fallen asleep or was still busy, so he didn’t hear the phone.
In the early winter morning, the piercing cold wind could creep into a person’s bones.
Sienna stood in the cold wind with a thermos bottle, both cold and anxious, stamped her foot in frustration, and argued with the security guard, "I am Simon Forrester’s girlfriend! I need to get inside! Please open the door!"
"Oh wow! You’re a little scammer!" The security guard locked the small iron gate and circled Sienna, eyeing her as he walked, "Our Director Forrester’s girlfriend is the designer here! I see her coming and going to work every day. Who are you trying to fool?! Nowadays, these young girls are really something, tsk tsk tsk..."
Sienna thought she must have heard wrong and confirmed again, "Simon Forrester’s girlfriend is the designer here? Are you sure?"
"I’m sure! Everyone here knows it! How can I not be sure?"
Sienna was driven mad with anger, pushed aside the security guard in front of her, and went to open the small door next to the security room. However, the guard had already closed the door when he exited, and she couldn’t get in without a key, so she angrily shook the iron door a few times.
The security guard ran up to chase her off, "You girl, stir up trouble again and I’ll call the police!" As he was about to push her away, suddenly a prolonged car horn sounded from behind.
The security guard turned to look at the license plate, quickly opened the small door, and ran into the security office to press the automatic gate switch.
Sienna took advantage of the situation to slip inside, but as soon as she stepped through the main door, she was stopped by the suddenly appearing security guard.
She was so angry she couldn’t speak, standing there staring daggers at the security guard.
A car drove up from the slope and stopped beside her.
"Old Zhang, what’s going on?" The man driving the car rolled down the passenger window and looked at Sienna and the security guard.
The security guard rushed to the car, bent down, and said to the person inside, "Assistant Rhodes, this girl claims to be Director Forrester’s girlfriend, lurking around here early in the morning. How could I let her in? If Jane Sinclair finds out later..."
Jane Sinclair?
Sienna remembered those two names.
She was so angry she could crush her teeth, furious and aggrieved, with reddened eyes looking at the office on the third floor.
"Are you Lawyer Thorne from Vantage?"
At some point, the man had gotten out of the car and walked up to her.
She snapped back to reality and nodded her head, "I am Sienna Thorne."
"Hello hello, I’m Director Forrester’s assistant, Harrison Rowe." Harrison Rowe extended his hand to Sienna.
Seeing him wearing leather gloves, Sienna extended her own gloved hand and shook his briefly.
Harrison’s gaze lingered on the thermos bottle she was holding, and he smiled, "It’s not even seven-thirty yet. Lawyer Thorne, why so early? Do you have business with Director Forrester?"
"I..." Sienna moved the hand holding the thermos bottle behind her back, a little embarrassed, "Yes, I have something to discuss with him, but he didn’t answer his phone."
Harrison chuckled, "The firm is rushing a Dubai project this week. Director Forrester is almost working overnight. He might be resting now and has his phone on silent."
"Then..."
Sienna was just about to ask if it would be convenient for her to go up and see Simon Forrester, when he said, "Why don’t you head back first, Lawyer Thorne? When Director Forrester wakes up, I’ll help you arrange a time to meet with him."
Sienna took a deep breath, glanced at Simon Forrester’s office, and thought if he was resting, it indeed wasn’t convenient to disturb him.
She handed the thermos bottle to Harrison, "Then please, Mr. Rhodes, help me pass this to him."
Harrison gladly accepted it, smiling broadly, "Alright! No problem!" He said, weighed it in his hand, "Lawyer Thorne, you’re truly considerate. Sending some porridge early in this kind of weather is more thoughtful than those girls who send flowers and chocolates. Director Forrester will definitely have a good impression of you."
Sienna: "..."
She nodded to Harrison, "Then I’ll trouble you, I’ll leave now." She said, then turned to leave.
Suddenly, the phone in her coat pocket rang. She stopped, took it out, and saw it was Simon Forrester. She quickly answered, "It’s me..."
On the other side, Simon Forrester’s voice was heavy with sleep, "Sorry, I just fell asleep and missed your call."
"It’s okay, it’s just that I made some porridge and wanted you to have some..."
"Where are you now? I’ll come find you."
"I’m just downstairs at your company." After speaking, she turned to look at Simon Forrester’s office.
At that moment, Simon Forrester walked to the window, saw her standing in the yard, and waved his hand at her, "Wait for me, I’ll come down to get you."
"Okay." Sienna also waved at him and put the phone away, blushing with a shy smile.
Five days apart, she really missed him.
Harrison, not understanding the situation, looked up at the manager’s office.
Nobody’s there, who was she waving to?
"In this cold weather, Lawyer Thorne, you should head back first! I’ll make sure to hand the porridge over without a hitch to Director Forrester, rest assured." Harrison’s voice trembled from the cold.
Sienna shook her head, "I’ll leave after I’ve seen him."
The security guard heard this and grumbled, "Why don’t you ever listen, girl? Without an appointment, there’s no way I can let you in! Come on, leave..." He said, trying to pull on Sienna’s arm.
Harrison was freezing, not wanting to stand out in the cold to drive away the relentless flowers, he left saying "Old Zhang, it’s up to you now," and jogged back to get into the driver’s seat.
The car hadn’t even started when Simon Forrester, wearing only a thin crewneck sweater without even an overcoat, came rushing out from the lobby on the first floor.
Harrison was startled and quickly jumped out of the car, shouting to the security guard, "Old Zhang! Show some respect!" and ran over to the security guard who had already dragged the person to the doorway, pulling the guard’s hand off Sienna’s arm, and raised his voice, "Old Zhang! Let go! Lawyer Thorne is Director Forrester’s esteemed guest! What are you doing?!"
The security guard stared blankly at him, just about to ask, when Simon Forrester had already strode over.
Harrison quickly handed over the porridge Sienna had entrusted him with to Simon Forrester, "Boss, Lawyer Thorne brought you breakfast, have some while it’s hot."
Simon Forrester gave him a glance, took the porridge, and wrapped an arm around Sienna, leading her inside, "It’s too cold out here, let’s go in."
Until the two of them were inside the firm, Harrison exhaled a cloud of white smoke and turned back to the security guard, "Did that girl say what she needed to see Director Forrester for?"
"She didn’t say, just claimed to be Director Forrester’s girlfriend."
Harrison looked back at the figure that had disappeared from sight, recalling Simon Forrester’s attentive demeanor earlier, running out in the freezing weather without even wearing a coat, he figured this must be it.
The security guard uncle was clearly baffled as well, muttering, "That girl shouldn’t be, right? Isn’t Director Forrester’s girlfriend Jane Sinclair?"
Harrison was taken aback, sucked in a breath, and looked back at the security guard, "Who told you Director Forrester’s girlfriend is Jane Sinclair?"
"The bunch of female designers at the firm said so! Don’t they usually call Jane Sinclair the ’Director’s wife’?"
