Her words left him speechless.
Gazing at the woman’s soft, delicate features, his breathing deepened. Then, he suddenly leaned in and crushed his lips against hers.
"Mmph!"
Chloe Reed hadn’t expected the surprise attack. Her watery eyes widened in an instant as she raised her hands to push him away, but he caught her wrists and deepened the kiss.
It was as if he were venting his negative emotions, plundering her mouth with wild abandon, invading every soft corner.
Chloe Reed felt like she was suffocating. She opened her mouth and bit him, and the taste of blood immediately spread between their lips.
The metallic, coppery scent wasn’t pleasant, and it dissipated some of the intimate atmosphere.
Shoving him away forcefully, Chloe Reed stared at him, her breathing ragged. "Are you insane?"
Walker Grant lowered his head slightly, his breath hot and uneven. His voice was a bit hoarse as he said, "I’m not happy."
Chloe Reed stared at him in disbelief. "What are you talking about?"
Walker Grant looked up, his eyes fixed on her. "Seeing you with another man makes me unhappy. And the fact that you have secrets now makes me even more unhappy."
Chloe Reed: "..."
She was so angry she had to laugh.
"Have you forgotten your place? We’re in the process of getting a divorce. What I do has nothing to do with you. And of course, I won’t meddle in what you do, either. You..."
"If you keep talking like that, I’ll kiss you again."
Walker Grant’s dark, phoenix-like eyes stared at her, his handsome face completely devoid of expression.
Chloe Reed immediately fell silent. She looked at him, speechless and furious. "You..."
Before she could finish, Walker Grant suddenly moved closer, scaring her into silence.
’Scoundrel!’
’This man is such a scoundrel!’
She simply turned her face away, pouting in anger.
Walker Grant gazed at her, his eyes lingering on her red lips for a few moments. He reluctantly tore his gaze away, straightened up, and closed the car door for her.
On the way, both were silent, neither bringing up what had just happened.
Chloe Reed didn’t dwell on the incident. When they arrived at Jardinelle, she got out of the car and left on her own.
Walker Grant, however, stared at her retreating figure, his dark eyes filled with a particular sense of grievance.
Just then, his phone rang. He took it out and saw it was a call from Nathaniel Monroe.
"Walker."
Once the call connected, Nathaniel Monroe’s voice came through. "When are you sending someone over to spar with me again? I feel like I’m completely recovered now."
Walker Grant’s eyes darkened. "Alright," he said. "I’ll send someone to you."
"Alrighty!"
Nathaniel Monroe was incredibly confident in himself.
He felt that this time, he could definitely defeat that Daniel Hayes!
Walker Grant went straight to Chloe Reed and asked, "Want to watch a sparring match?"
Chloe Reed was tying up her hair, planning to practice shooting for a while longer. Hearing his words, she looked over suspiciously. "Who’s fighting who?"
"Nathaniel Monroe and Daniel Hayes."
Chloe Reed thought for a moment, then nodded. "Sure."
’Perfect,’ she thought. ’I can see if there are any simple, useful moves I can learn.’
The two of them had only just come inside before they were leaving again.
Annie York took it all in and couldn’t help but say, "I don’t think Chloe and Mr. Grant will get divorced."
The old lady withdrew her gaze and smiled leisurely. "Who knows," she said.
