Chapter 526: Chapter 526: Haven’t I Affected You?

He walked directly up to her, grabbed her by the wrist, and led her out of the living room.

Iris Yates instinctively wanted to step forward, but remembering what Walker Grant had just said, she forced herself to hold back.

She knew she was in the wrong, so she decided to hold her tongue.

Once outside the villa, Walker Grant said in a low voice, "Just now, William Quinn almost ran into her."

Chloe Reed tried to pull her hand away. Hearing his words, she froze. "What do you mean?"

A hint of helplessness crossed Walker Grant’s face. "William Quinn is on the verge of losing it because he can’t find her. He wanted to see me, so I had Dylan Finch bring him over. Dylan just told me that when he got to the gate, Iris Yates was right there. If he hadn’t been quick on his feet, they would have seen each other."

His tone softened slightly. "Now, do you still think I was being harsh with her?"

Chloe Reed was speechless for a moment. She never would have imagined something like that had just happened.

She lowered her eyes slightly and was silent for a moment before saying, "You’ve been in a bad mood lately. I thought you were just taking it out on her."

Walker Grant let out a soft, heavy sigh. "There’s no antidote for the poison in Noah."

"What?!"

Chloe Reed looked up in shock. "Then..."

She didn’t dare say more. After all, they both knew what that meant.

’Without an antidote, Noah will die sooner or later. He’s not even four years old. His life has just begun...’

Walker Grant released her wrist and said in a low voice, "They’re still developing an antidote, but it’s anyone’s guess when it’ll be ready. It’s also unknown if Noah can hold on that long."

He paused, his striking eyes giving her a complicated look. "So, I’ve been very on edge these past few days. If my mood has affected you, I apologize. I’m sorry."

"No!"

Chloe Reed shook her head instinctively. "You haven’t affected me. It’s just... Grandma wanted me to ask you what was wrong today."

"It hasn’t?"

Walker Grant averted his gaze, a flicker of loneliness passing through his eyes.

Seeing his expression, Chloe Reed’s heart felt a flutter of turmoil. The feeling was a bit overwhelming, so she changed the subject abruptly. "So where is William Quinn now?"

"I had Dylan Finch take him somewhere else," Walker Grant said calmly.

Chloe Reed breathed a sigh of relief, then asked, "Are you going to see him now?"

"Yeah."

Walker Grant nodded, then added, "Have her stay here tonight. I’ll have someone take her back tomorrow morning. Tell her not to wander off again before the wedding is over."

"Okay."

Chloe Reed nodded and turned to walk back to the villa.

After taking a couple of steps, she couldn’t help but add, "These next few days... you should spend more time with Noah."

As soon as the words left her mouth, she hurried back into the villa.

Walker Grant watched her slender figure, his gaze softening a little. Then he turned and left.

...

"Chloe, he didn’t yell at you, did he?"

Seeing her return, Iris Yates immediately asked with concern.

Chloe Reed shook her head. "No, he just explained the reason to me. It was just a misunderstanding."

She paused, her gaze complicated as she looked at Iris Yates. "When you got here, you just missed William Quinn."

Iris Yates’s eyes widened in astonishment. "Oh my god!"

"But don’t be scared. He’s been led away, and he didn’t see you." Chloe Reed patted her on the shoulder. "Just stay here tonight. For the next few days, stay home and don’t go wandering around. Everything will be fine after the wedding is over."

Iris Yates’s face was pale with lingering fear. She nodded blankly, at a loss for words for a moment.
