Chapter 525: Chapter 525: Almost Found
Chloe Reed: [I’m home. Nothing much going on right now.]
Iris Yates: [Then I’ll head over! We can play cards with Grandma!]
True to her word, she immediately got out of bed and changed.
She got into her little Beetle and drove toward Jardinelle.
The weather wasn’t great today—overcast and gloomy, it looked like it could rain at any moment.
Iris Yates was a steady driver, and she soon arrived at the entrance to Jardinelle. A security guard stopped her and asked her to sign in.
She got out of her car and walked over to sign.
Just then, another car pulled up nearby.
Dylan Finch was about to speak to the man in the back seat when he looked up and saw Iris Yates signing the registry at the security booth, her head lowered.
His pupils contracted in an instant!
’What is Iris Yates doing here?’
’Is she here to see Ms. Reed?’
Dylan Finch glanced in the rearview mirror. William Quinn was resting with his eyes closed; he clearly hadn’t seen Iris Yates.
’I absolutely cannot let him see her!’
He had spent days staring at surveillance footage, unable to find the car he was looking for. Furious, he had been cursing up a storm, demanding to see Walker Grant.
Dylan Finch had requested permission from Mr. Grant and had only come over after it was granted.
He never would have expected to see Iris Yates at the gate!
Dylan Finch put the car in drive and headed in a different direction.
Just then, William Quinn opened his eyes. He had pulled several all-nighters in a row, and his eyes were bloodshot and irritated. "Are we there yet?" he asked.
Dylan Finch said, "Almost. You can rest a little longer."
He steered with one hand, using the other to type a message to Walker Grant.
Walker Grant replied quickly, telling him to take William Quinn to another property and that he would be there shortly.
Dylan Finch let out a subtle sigh of relief.
He drove toward another villa.
William Quinn looked around. "Doesn’t Walker Grant live here?" he asked.
Dylan Finch said, "Mr. Grant isn’t at this property today. He’s at another one. I’m taking you there now."
William Quinn glared at him, his eyes bloodshot. "Then why did you bring me here first? Are you messing with me?"
Dylan Finch said hurriedly, "No, no, that wasn’t my intention at all. I just received a last-minute change of plans."
"Hmph. You’re just like your boss—a liar." William Quinn closed his eyes again.
His eyes were killing him; he needed to rest them.
Dylan Finch said nothing more, feeling slightly more at ease.
...
Once Iris Yates finished signing in, she went straight inside. The moment she entered Jardinelle, she flung herself at Chloe Reed, wrapping her in a tight hug.
"My Cherie, it’s only been a few days, but I’ve missed you like crazy!" she said with great exaggeration.
Chloe Reed’s lips twitched in amusement. "You’re so extra. It’s a little cringey. Can’t we just be cool, pretty girls?"
"Fine, fine, you don’t love me anymore." Iris Yates pretended to cry, then turned to find the old woman. "I’m going to find Grandma. I know *she* loves me!"
Her cheerful voice rang out, and the old madam was clearly delighted to see her. The two of them immediately struck up a lively conversation.
Just then, Walker Grant came down the stairs.
His handsome brows furrowed. He shot a glance at Iris Yates and said, "Have you forgotten your situation? Wandering all over the place. Are you trying to make it easy for him to find you?"
Startled by his sudden harshness, Iris Yates flinched and looked at him timidly.
Chloe Reed frowned slightly. "She just came here. It’s not like he’d just happen to find her. Why are you being so harsh? If you’re in a bad mood, deal with it yourself. Don’t take your frustrations out on innocent people."
Walker Grant: "..."
He stared at her, then let out a laugh of pure exasperation.
