Chapter 1200: Chapter 1200: Aftermath
"Long Jin sister, what is a supercar?" Golden Phoenix Feather asked Long Jin with curious wide eyes after conveying the decision made by the Ancestral God and Lin Junzhao to Pei Yan.
"Uh~."
"Haha, looks like someone learned about supercars just a few days after regaining freedom." Long Jin, who hadn’t been to the Foundation Plane, naturally couldn’t answer Golden Phoenix Feather’s question. Pei Yan, lying on the bed, rolled his eyes and griped about Lin Junzhao, then turned to Golden Phoenix Feather eagerly and asked, "Don’t worry about what a supercar is for now, you’re not at the age to be interested in such things yet! First, tell me how to solve my current situation?"
"Hmm, there are two solutions. The first one is permanent and involves you possessing the Power of Origin by Blood Fiend, perfectly integrating the mixed blood within your body; this issue will naturally be resolved." Golden Phoenix Feather replied casually when Pei Yan pressed.
Pei Yan shook his head and denied, "Don’t think about obtaining Blood Fiend’s Power of Origin, under the current circumstances, it’s simply unattainable in the short term."
"Then there’s the second method proposed by Spirit Lord Lin; you should engage in more unions to let the body continuously adapt to the process, thereby shortening the time of side effects. Oh! Also, after absorbing the Power of Origin from other planes, harmonizing these forces can also alleviate the burden." Golden Phoenix Feather relayed Lin Junzhao’s words to Pei Yan.
"Is that it?"
"Hmm, only these two solutions! Oh, wait!" Golden Phoenix Feather dug out two white jade stones the size of goose eggs from her bosom, tossing one to the maid taking care of Hu Jiu, and placing the other on Pei Yan’s chest. The moment Pei Yan’s skin touched the jade stone, a chilling sensation spread throughout his body, alleviating the burning and itching, much of which vanished instantly, bringing immense comfort. Pei Yan sighed a breath of relief, relaxing as he stopped struggling and lay back on the bed, inquiring, "What are these? Do you have more? Give me a couple more!"
"How many more do you want? These are bird eggs of the Ice Phoenix Race that tragically died without nurturing a life, transformed into jade stones over time, extremely precious treasures not bestowed upon outsiders within my grandparents’ clan. We wouldn’t have lent them to you if not for the Ancestral God’s words and your great contributions to the Dragon Realm!" Golden Phoenix Feather expressed dissatisfaction at Pei Yan’s greed, "Remember, they are borrowed, not given; they can alleviate the pains brought by the side effects after unification, so we lend them temporarily, but once this issue is entirely resolved, you must return them."
"Thank you! Thank you! Phew!" Pei Yan muttered thanks as he closed his eyes, having awakened from forced slumber sensing crisis; after waking, he faced consecutive battles followed by torment from the side effects for several days. With his condition improving now, his spirit relaxed, and he fell into deep sleep immediately after speaking.
When Pei Yan awakened again, it was two days later, during which the rash on his body had nearly disappeared, leaving only patches of dark red skin testifying to the torment he endured. As Pei Yan surveyed the surroundings, Hu Jiu was absent from the room; possessing better physical and mental endurance, Hu Jiu had awakened a day earlier and was napping outside the house, only stretching and rubbing his head against Pei Yan’s pant leg when Pei Yan walked up and nudged him with a foot.
"You still seem a bit out of it; come on, let’s take a stroll." Pei Yan, seeing Hu Jiu’s listless state, patted his head, inviting him to go out with a smile.
Hu Jiu responded with a low growl, and together they wandered out of the garden. Their awakening was promptly reported to the Dragon Race’s Guard Commander on duty; with the new Dragon King’s orders complemented by the prestige accumulated from recent battles, no one dared obstruct them. Wherever they went, the guards in Dragon Realm treated them with respect, making way for them."
Pei Yan was accustomed to such situations, finding no surprise in their unimpeded passage as they traveled from inside the Dragon Palace to the outside, joined by Long Jin rushing over after hearing the news. Standing at the Dragon Realm’s outskirts, Pei Yan had not yet laid eyes on the post-disaster rebuilding of the Dragon Realm before hearing pitiful, feeble wailing.
"These are...?" Pei Yan followed the sound to see magical and Daoist Plane divine beasts in various forms, reverted to their original states with bodies bound to stone racks, their bodies staining the racks with blood. Witnessing the sight of thirty-meter-tall dragons lying in pain on hill-sized stone racks, even Pei Yan, accustomed to bloody scenes, felt shocked and lost for words.
"Traitors! Such is the fate of traitors!" Long Jin, known for being gentle and friendly, spoke with a rare killing intent. Her anger was justified, as it was the Dark Race’s betrayal that allowed Blood Fiend to wreak havoc in the Dragon Realm, causing immense damage. Not only was the Dragon Realm ravaged, but her teacher’s plans were prematurely disrupted; she was slightly injured herself, nearly failing the tasks entrusted by her teacher.
"Oh!" Pei Yan nodded, indifferent to these matters, remarking casually, "These are the captured Dark Race traitors, eh! Wait, their number seems larger than what was retained that day!"
"Do you think we were idle while you were unconscious for those days? The incident in the Dragon Realm was spread across all major planes by the second day after the event."
"How could the news spread so quickly?" Pei Yan, experienced with the slow dissemination of news in the original four major planes, found Long Jin’s statement incredulous.
"It was Blood Fiend’s propaganda!" Long Jin gritted her teeth, saying, "It seems they were long prepared to strike our Dragon Realm; the news of the event hadn’t even settled here, yet it was flying across all major planes. Rumors spread of the Dragon King being captured, Blood Fiend triumphant, the severe losses of our Dragon Realm, Ancestral God avoiding battle, and even you!"
"Me too?" Pei Yan laughed, surprised as Long Jin pointed at him, then asked.
"Yes, you too! They claimed Pei Yan nearly perished in the battle."
"Hahahaha!" Pei Yan stood stunned momentarily before bursting into laughter. After laughing, he smacked his lips in resignation, "Though slightly exaggerated, the event did almost occur."
"Indeed, precisely due to seven parts truth and three parts lies that make it hard to distinguish, this news revitalized Blood Fiend’s spirit after the dismay at the Sword Discussion Conference. Moreover, to bolster their presence, they attacked the Demon Race and the newly arrived Magic Alliance Army’s camp on the second day of the Dragon Realm assault. Lacking awareness of the enemy, the newly arrived Magic Plane reinforcements were bypassed, leading to severe damage on the unsuspecting Demon Race’s forces."
