Chapter 43: 43: Messengers

Lord Ash had woken up earlier that morning after news was brought to him that his presence was urgently needed at the hall as some men from the upper tribe had arrived.

And so he left Ayra that morning after dressing her up and informed Commander Lynn of what he needed to do.

Lord Ash and the other two tribe lords were seated in their higher seats in the meeting hall. And at their sides were another set of beastmen who had come to visit.

These beastmen consisted of a deer, and two antelopes. All sitting down elegantly while looking around at the beastmen they had come to visit as if they were filth.

"And to what do we owe this grand visit from the Silvermoon?" Zark questioned.

These men were sent by the tribe leader of the Silvermoon tribe - Ayra’s tribe. And they had come for a reason obvious to the tribe leaders even though they asked.

The deer smiled. "I believe you’re already aware of why we’re here. Do we still need to spell it out to you?" He stared at the tribe leaders. "Really?"

The first antelope cleared his throat and spoke proudly. "It seems you guys have gotten all proud and forgotten your responsibilities towards us. Because tell me why we haven’t seen the mandatory food stuff you are supposed to send us and it’s already been a week late," he scoffed. "What does this mean?"

It was clear that the tribe leaders were stronger and higher in rank than these messengers from the Silvermoon tribe. But they spoke casually and rudely to the tribe leaders anyway, treating them lower. And the tribe leaders didn’t dare retaliate even though they were pissed. They were used to the insults.

Lord Ash smiled as he said, "Oh, that. Well, I hate to announce that there’s been some setback with gathering food. We haven’t been able to gather much because the wild monsters are getting too much and contaminating most zones with edibles."

Ash explained further. "So we’re currently having a hard time getting food for ourselves, talk more of even gathering for someone else...."

"And who cares about you people?" The deer questioned, staring at them. Silence. "No one cares about you people eating or not.. we don’t. What we care about is the food stuff you’re supposed to get to us." He glared at them. "You guys are intentionally playing us right? It’s like we have been too lenient with you lowlife beasts."

Zark clenched his fist while he glared at them. He didn’t wish to speak else his words wouldn’t be so pleasant.

Vale forced a smile as he said, "You might not care about us but at least you should care enough about the news that we haven’t found much food. So you’ll have to be patient if you want anything..."

"Shut up," the second antelope snapped. "The audacity to try lying to us. We saw some traces of food here while coming. If you have something to eat, why not just send it to us? Haven’t you learnt to prioritize us?"

Zark clenched his fist more as he said, "The concept of demanding our food when you people haven’t kept your end of the promise for a while now. We haven’t seen the soothing medication sent in a while now. How can you demand food openly when you haven’t done that?"

The deer glared at him with a scoff. "Shameless. What do you think we are? Negotiating with you? Pei! You’re not on the level of even negotiating anything, you lowly things."

He continued. "You are below us. And you work for us just because of that. You monsters should know that. So us handing you some medication is out of charity. We’re never obligated to do so, so how dare you even question us??"

Zark struggled to hold it in. He should be used to this but his anger issues were already pumping up. His eyes went red as he stared at them.

The antelope smiled as he said, "You should know your worth. You should know that we can kill you off anytime if you’re useless to us. It’s that easy, so don’t get cocky!"

"Exactly. So just work hard. If you can’t find food in safe zones, go into the contaminated zones! Do whatever you want! We don’t care if you die or go crazy, you’re no different from those monsters after all."

The second antelope scoffed as he said, "And we also heard that you three were almost berserk a while back.. but looking at you, you seem perfectly fine. I wonder why that is..."

Ash smiled as he said, "Isn’t that obvious? We figured that the medication could be delayed so we saved some for emergencies like this," he said with a calm smile.

The three messengers paused and stared at them for a while. And then they rolled their eyes and shook their heads.

"Whatever, I don’t care what happens. All I know is that we will need that food by all means. So don’t even think of playing any tricks on us," the antelope said proudly.

And at that moment, the other two looked around as the deer asked, "And.. A while back I believe a female was exiled to this tribe..."

They said as they stared at the tribe leaders. "A troublesome vicious F-rank female was sent here. Is that so? I wonder if you are aware of that?"

Vale smiled as he said, "An F-rank female? Such trivial matters, why occupy myself with such worthless thoughts of an F-rank in our lands. She’s probably dead."

Ash smiled. "Yes. She’s dead. Such a pathetic F-rank female shouldn’t exist in our tribe. Besides, she had once caused us annoyance. So since you guys have abandoned and disposed of her to our lands, it’s clear that you wanted her dead, isn’t that the case?" He smiled. "So we made it happen. Killed her off immediately and ate her up. Any problem with that?" He asked while staring closely at them, studying their expressions and reactions.
