Chapter 36: 36: Keep her.
Lord Vale sat down comfortably in his seat while he gently sipped down the wine in his hand. When he stared up, he saw Lord Ash and Zark standing before him and staring down at him. Both had their arms folded, eyes raised as they cast him a judgmental glare.
"What?"
Ash stared at him while munching on the apple in his hand. "That’s interesting. Even the great Silver Snake couldn’t do anything about the female. But rather, he brought her back safely?"
Vale cleared his throat. "Nothing can be done about it. I guess she might not be as bad as I thought..."
"..."
"What? Even you too now?" Zark demanded. "First it’s Ash and now you too? Did your brains suddenly get stolen or something?"
Vale cleared his throat. "I’m just saying. For the fact that she was able to save the beastmen, take down that beast and even soothe me..." He paused as they stared at him again.
"She soothed you again?" Ash almost choked over the apple. "You really are something.... Is that your way of testing her then?"
"It’s nothing much," Vale casually said, trying to get the explicit picture from his head. "At least I was able to find out that she could actually be useful.. I mean... If she really has such skills, then maybe she can be of good use to us...."
Ash smiled as he continued munching on his apple while nodding. "That was actually what I think... I mean, it’s not every day that you find a female who can soothe us... And even bear my heir..." Ash smiled as he said.
"..." The both stared at him.
"What?"
"For someone like her to take down a monster like that with her wits proved a lot. So it might be interesting to keep her around."
Ash nodded. "I also think so...she might have a lot of interesting cards up her sleeve."
The both agreed as Zark kept his cold expression. He didn’t wish to buy it that easily even though he too found what she did shocking and rather extraordinary.
Zark shook his head. "You two are just too soft-hearted," he said as he went to take his seat. "I guess this female really has some ace up her sleeve to make you two consider leaving her..."
"Yes. She does. She’s different from all that’s said about her," Ash said.
Vale slowly nodded as his mind drifted to the moments in the cave. "She’s brave and smart... not as weak and dumb as the rumors say... For an F-rank female, she actually is... Pretty?" He found himself recalling her face in the cave.... He paused. "And she can actually heal and soothe at the same time... That’s rare..."
When he looked up, Ash and Zark were staring at him. Ash smiled as he slowly nodded. "I think the smart Vale has been won over..."
"No. Never," Vale scoffed. "I’m just saying that she can actually be useful to us with her skills. That’s it."
Ash nodded in agreement.
"Whatever," Zark shook his head as he changed the topic at hand. "We should note that other matters at hand." He stared at Ash. "How’s the food stuff coming up?"
Ash ran the apple through his chin in thought. "Right now it’s hard to gather some food stuff especially with the increase of these unpredictable monsters lurking the areas. It gets risky."
Ash added, "Besides, we don’t even have enough to eat talk more of handing any to the upper tribe. So I don’t know how that will work."
Zark sighed as he thought for a while. "We’ll have to get some food first and then talk about that later."
Ash nodded. "Certainly. We’ll have to find a way before we fall into complete scarcity.. surely these wild monsters aren’t letting us get food at all.." he sighed. "But don’t worry, I’ll see how to get around it."
Zark slowly nodded as he turned to Vale. "And how’s the intention to search for Nyx coming?"
Vale hesitated. "Still no sign of where he could be. But we’ll find a way..."
Lord Zark slowly nodded. "Okay. Let’s keep it up then."

Ayra enjoyed her usual morning bath in the stream consistently over the upcoming three days.
These three days had been rather peaceful for her. She would simply take her bath for longer times and then go back to Commander Lynn’s house and rest. She was getting rather lazy and tired as time went. Ayra could tell it was because of her pregnancy. She guessed something was actually happening..
But at least it was peaceful and boring. Especially since Commander Lynn was always out on duty and the hyper Rai, his brother, didn’t come in the upcoming days. She heard he also went on patrol and work with his elder brother.
Ayra’s bath routine was blissful within these days. Especially with her new applications of creams and hair gels. She could feel her brown hair getting smoother and shinier. Staring into the stream after bath, she was liking how things were coming up with the few beauty kits her system had rewarded her.
Her beauty stats had finally hit 50% with these she was applying consistently in these few days. And she could already see a significant improvement to her face.
It had taken a turn for the better. And even as she walked through the tribe, she couldn’t help but notice eyes turning to her.. shocked and speechless.
"Huh? Is this... Her...?"
"Are you sure that’s the same F-rank female we saw a while back? The same one staying here? How did she change so much...?"
"Yeah she looks different.. she looks better..."
"Her hair... Looks softer and better..."
"And her face looks better now. Is it me or is it actually glowing...?"
"I think her body is also taking shape... take a look at her..."
"Am I crazy for actually finding this female attractive now??"
They all stared as Ayra walked past them with a proud smile. This was just the beginning. Soon men would be dropping down at their feet whenever she walked past for sure.
