Chapter 520: Demonic Temptations

The lines on the Pseudo Sky Dragon’s body shone brighter and brighter until it produced a sudden flash of green, announcing the start of the real delivery process!

The flash was momentary, but as soon as the light subsided, the green lines started moving as if they came to life, making their way out of the Pseudo Sky Dragon’s body.

In a way, it looked like the miniature Dragon was suddenly experiencing hair growth, albeit only possessing a few green strands.

However...

A cool breeze gently brushed my face, carrying a hint of fresh grassy scent... On its way back, the wind carried comfortable warmth, completely washing away the remaining fatigue in my body.

’Why does it feel so different?’

Although the essence still had a certain mysterious charm to it when I first chanced upon it, my ’Sensory Area’ perceived something completely different.

The relaxing sensation wasn’t something that I only perceived, the area within a certain radius was covered by the same alternating effects.

’So... This is ’living’ essence.’

Of course, considering the circumstances that surrounded each instant, finding the answer wasn’t that hard.

Compared to enjoying life inside the Pseudo Sky Dragon’s body, the essence that I found was something that lost its owner long ago, so it wasn’t that surprising to look dead like a book’s smear.

Rather, as the core of a Dragon’s existence, it would have been more surprising if it didn’t have such a striking effect.

’If I can feel this much just by seeing it in front of me...’

Looking at the hair-like lines that were on the verge of completely swirling out of the Pseudo Sky Dragon, I couldn’t help wondering about the effect of consuming them.

Although I already had a part of the Green Dragon’s essence inside my body, the effect of the dead essence was likely to be vastly inferior compared to this life-like organism.

I didn’t even feel the need to ask the Green Dragon to confirm my guess. As soon as I questioned myself, the desire to grab it as a treat for myself was already rising.

I could tell that this wouldn’t just end with a simple Evolution like last time, that effect could be achieved just by using normal Dragon Blood. If I were to take complete Possession of the Green Dragon’s essence.

’Would it be possible to become a True Dragon?’

It definitely seemed feasible. After all, both the Green Dragon and the Dragon Ancestor made sure to mention that it was practically equal to 90% of their worth if not 100%. 𝒇𝙧𝙚𝓮𝔀𝓮𝒃𝙣𝓸𝒗𝒆𝒍.𝙘𝒐𝒎

Of course, anyone else would probably blow up if they consumed such a potent matter, but things would be vastly different.

Not only did I possess a part of that very same essence, but I had already taken the form of a True Dragon once, even if it was for a very limited amount of time.

In fact, even if there was no precedent, there were still my ’privileges’ as a Player, the most important of which would be ’Omni-Mastery’!

Regardless of whether it would be an instantaneous process or not, ultimately possessing True Dragon form could drastically change the difficulty settings of the ’Lost Realm’.

While I couldn’t confidently say that it would become an ’Easy’ game considering the incidents that the Green and Volcanic Dragons fell to, the number of enemies that could pose a threat to my life would be easy to count on two hands at the very most.

Rather, if I were to supplement the trustworthy body of a True Dragon with all the information and tactics that I learned all the way here, I could just choose to wait out my time in this perilous world.

After all, 9 more years looked like a lot using human eyes, but if I just hibernated in the right place with the right forms of protection, 9 years could easily pass by like a flash!

However...

’It didn’t stop.’

The temptations could be easily justified by the grand opportunity that stood before me, but I could tell something was wrong.

Although quick deduction was supposed to be one of my strong suits, I always pursued objectiveness.

When it came to obtaining something, I would have normally listed the negatives that I have to experience in order to receive the positives that would come from getting my target.

Yet, just now, I only considered how easy my life could become, I didn’t even stop for one second to consider what would happen to the Green Dragon or the Lost Realm.

Not only did I completely fail to calculate the risky consequences of snatching a deathbed Dragon’s only cure, but my thoughts directly jumped to the laziest action I could think of!

’A Demon’s whisper.’

With the irregular outrage that I experienced not too long ago as a precedent, it wasn’t too hard to tell that this wasn’t just a random mental error. In the end...

’No one is completely safe.’

The more I came to know about the infectious spread of corruption in each and every Domain, the less I could trust the System’s purification, and with this instance as the final straw, this strengthened my assumption beyond doubt.

While the System acted as a very strong filter, there were still things that managed to sneak past its tight defenses!

Simple forms of danger like Body or Mental Corruption were still completely avoidable, but not everything could be cleansed with brute force like Corruption Energy.

With tiny grains piling up over time, it seemed like the mental crisis that I suffered from after my abduction had finally led to the development of Demonic Thoughts.

It wasn’t an entity or something that had a personality, but just like the creatures that led to its formation, it was a form of thinking process that pursued utter evil...

By completely shadowing my rationality and morality, the most devious form of thought was bound to be produced!

’Though its influence is pretty limited.’

Thankfully, as someone who had enough brains to debate himself, this was nothing more than a few seconds of useless ramblings. It was nothing I couldn’t handle.

’...For now.’

{Here it comes!}

While I was busy inside my own head, the swirling green threads finally straightened up into sharp solid needles before shooting out towards the Green Dragon’s body!

’This is more like it.’

Of course, contrary to the Demonic Thought’s advice, I didn’t panic as the chance to completely change my life quickly slipped out of my hand. After all, in reality, the negatives outweighed the positives by far.

The Demonic Whispers might appear to care for my personal interest on the surface. However, all of its assumptions were completely unfounded.

Now that my mind was back at full throttle, a list of consequential predicaments was quickly filled out in my head.

’Thank God.’

If I were to truly fall for its tricks, it would be no different from signing my own death certificate!

Once the green needles slipped into the Green Dragon’s cute form, I could only breathe a sigh of relief evading such an idiotic death.

’Let’s look forward to it.’

In comparison to obtaining something that wasn’t mine, I made sure to fill my mind with good expectations. After all, I had yet to receive the payment for my delivery!
