Chapter 505: Recruiting The Dirans.
Everything still felt like a staged drama to the Dirans.
One moment, they were already rounded up and were fighting the last battle that could possibly represent their last moment of freedom but the next, a huge beast arrived and did a few things, then all the other enemies disappeared.
If not for the fact that they witnessed the battle and the raw emotions involved and everything that followed, they would have thought that the attack was an illusion.
They hoped it was an illusion, but the scores of their dead siblings floating around lifelessly said otherwise, leaving them sad.
Quintillion’s dim eyes shone slightly as he looked at this massive beast that was just a few meters away from him.
No matter how foolish he was, and even though he didn’t recognize the race of beast that Sebastian was, Quintillion knew one thing and that was all that mattered, what he knew was that Sebastian was an apex predator.
Against their previous enemies, the Dirans stood no chance as they lost a lot of siblings in the process without being able to hurt the enemies.
This revealed the cruel reality of the great difference in strength. Before their enemies, they could only run with their tails behind their legs, they stood no chance before them and this made Sebastian’s feat all the more impactful.
The fact that Sebastian frightened those previous powerful enemies away revealed that he was the real villain of this sad story.
If the previous enemy was Ultron the villain, then Sebastian was Thanos the supervillain.
Quintillion was a lot of things, he was ugly, maybe foolish also but he recognized the signs of reality.
At this moment, he knew that he and his siblings stood no chance if this predator decided to annihilate them from the face of the earth, this was why he was extremely docile at the moment.
In normal circumstances, the instinctual impulses of a Diran would have compelled him to order his siblings to attack and fight to the death but the words of his leader kept on reverberating in his head and calmed Quintillion down.
"Quintillion, no matter what happens, remember that the survival of our race should be the priority".
"Also, remember the prophecy of the 10th generation ancestor, the light of luck will eventually shine on our race from where we never expected".
"In everything that you do, always remember to be open-minded".
Once Quintillion remembered all these, he felt all his grievances at the number of his siblings who died evaporating like the wind as he calmed down.
His calm became infectious as all his remaining siblings also calmed at the presence of this massive Leviathon, then they awaited their verdict.
Seeing the reaction of the Diran, Sebastian heaved a sigh of relief.
Having heard infamous news about how foolish Dirans were, Sebastian was relieved to know that they were still receptive to intimidation tactics.
If they were not, his next step from here would have been much harder and crueler. Sebastian was happy that he didn’t need to resort to more extreme tactics to get his ideas across to this primitive variant human race.
He swam closer to the variant humans while trying his best not to display hostility. "Dirans, I am an ambitious Leviathon".
"Like all other ambitious groups out there, I want to enter the Blood Wreckage and try my hand into the salvaging business".
"This is the main reason why I came for you all".
"I heard that you guys are the authority when it comes to the salvaging business in the area. I want all of you to work for me".
"Of course, not as slaves but as subordinates".
"I treat my subordinates fairly". Sebastian added at the ending and though he was not sure, he hoped that the Dirans understood what he said.
Sebastian’s speech was generic, nothing was special about it but the Dirans didn’t need any special speech. They were such one-dimensional variant humans that all they needed was the idea to the shared.
Quintillion finally spoke after spending only a little time to think about it, and he was even more direct than Sebastian.
"With our fall, our fate is no longer in our hands".
"To secure our survival, we have no choice but to serve under you, master".
This was the brutal reality, and Quintillion accepted it.
Sebastian was not too surprised at the honesty of the Dirans, they were famed for that.
If they were displeased, they would show it, if they were happy, they would show it, and if they were cornered, they would succumb to circumstances.
With that, his goal of recruiting Dirans into his entourage went smoothly. Sebastian didn’t have any elaborate plans yet, but he knew his destination as he took his entourage on a great voyage towards the Blood Wreckage.
The group of variant humans and their boss traveled for 2 days during which time they encountered and clashed with a lot of different beasts.
In all these encounters, the Dirans only had to stay behind their leader as Sebastian acted like the boss he was, eliminating them all.
This display of might became the consolation that Quintillion and his fellow Dirans could get. They may have lost their freedom, but there were pros to any situation, and the pros here were that they now had better protection.
With Sebastian, they were better protected than they could have ever been under Quintillion’s leadership.
A few hours before they arrived at their destination, the frequency of encountering hostile beasts increased exponentially as Sebastian finally encountered his first Red tier rival here.
After 8 months, Sebastian met a Tiger Shark again but this one was already in the Red tier realm. Both predators only looked at each other from a distance, and though the Tiger Shark showed a desire for the Dirans, he never attacked.
Sebastian despite being a purple tier predator already developed a tyrannical reputation as he journeyed that most predators already knew of him.
Both predators engaged in a staring contest, and when none of them showed weakness first after a minute, the massive Tiger Shark turned and left.
After that, Sebastian finally arrived in the Blood Wreckage.
