Chapter 461: Change In Plans.
Captain Omega made the craziest decision of his life.
A few months ago, Captain Omega thought that deciding to leave his cozy life as a regular captain of the Atlantian army to go after a Megalodon was the craziest decision that he could ever make but he could not have been more wrong.
Just about 2 months later after he made that crazy decision, he made an even more crazy decision that left him feeling like he was really going mad.
He actually defected from the Atlantian army!
It was already 5 days since he made the decision, but Captain Omega still could not believe that he was the one who made it.
All these boil down to one single fact, and that was that Sebastian was saying the truth. No matter how good of an actor Sebastian was, if he was lying, Captain Omega’s intuition would have prevented him from agreeing to it.
Sebastian’s tactic that he used to recruit him exposed him to a whole new dimension of his world that he didn’t know of before.
Thinking of it never failed to leave him amazed, it left Captain Omega feeling like he was really a frog in a well during his stint in the Atlantian army.
Sebastian blaming the death of his soldiers on the Atlantis Empire was not what really made him join the Megalodon’s camp, what convinced him to defect was the fact that a lot more soldiers would soon start dying this way.
As a veteran soldier of the Atlantian army, during his long period of service, Captain Omega was not ignorant of all the rats in his Empire’s cupboards.
Captain Omega still respected Queen Auralis a lot, but this did not mean that he saw her as perfect. She was like every other imperfect variant human and could make mistakes, nobody was perfect.
Queen Auralis was graceful but ruthless. She held the Empire above everything else and could make any decision not caring about its consequences so long as it benefited the Atlantis Empire.
Before, Captain Omega always thought himself to be a weirdo since he almost always opposed all the decisions of his higher-ups that involved sacrificing a lot of fine and innocent soldiers.
Though his higherups always justified these sacrifices to be for the greater good, he felt that there was no need for a greater good if the sacrifices were so steep and it involved so many casualties.
After Sebastian explained the Orca Revolution, the unique skills, the Myth Realm, and a lot of other things to him, he finally understood.
Though he badly wanted not to admit it, his Empire was selfish.
Atlantis already got so used to power that now they were ready to do anything to keep it even if this meant throwing a lot of their soldiers’ lives away or if it meant bringing Oceania’s doom.
Captain Omega could just imagine the number of lives that would be lost daily after the struggle for domination reached its peak.
Sometimes, captain Omega didn’t even know why he joined Sebastian’s camp. Perhaps, it was because Sebastian was chosen by the Sages, or because Sebastian loved close ones the way he did or it may be another reason entirely.
In the end, all Captain Omega wanted was a stable life where he could live casually with his soldiers without ever needing to fear annihilation the next day.
He theorized that the best shot at this goal of his was to support Sebastian who already had 2 unique skills and was chosen by the Sages.
If Sebastian became the Ocean Master, that would spell the end of all these. This was his motivation for joining Sebastian’s camp, he was willing to give Sebastian unreserved support and help when the Megalodon needed it.
Captain Omega defecting to Sebastian’s camp did not go without consequences. As a soldier and a Captain at that, Captain Omega had a connection to the headquarters of the Atlantian army.
Immediately after he cut himself off from the Atlantian army net connection, the headquarters discovered it. Through a hidden function, the headquarters was able to confirm that Captain Omega had already gone rogue.
After confirming it again through some other means, the captain was blacklisted immediately. Captain Omega now had a bounty on his name.
Having expected all these, Captain Omega worked fast which enabled him to remove the automaton of his warship, thereby securing the Annihilator warship.
Now, Sebastian had 2 new warships and an Annihilator warship in his ranks.
In his sleeping quarters inside the Annihilator warship, Captain Omega hovered cross-legged in the water as he looked through the first official mission instructions that his new leader gave to him.
It felt weird having to take orders from a Megalodon, but he was slowly getting used to it. Besides, he had to admit that his new boss was smart.
During the past 5 days, Sebastian was not idle as he thought of better ways to make his great transition from the Green Mist Sea into the Dungeon of Souls as smooth as possible and as less attention-grabbing as possible.
If his transition into the Dungeon of Souls became known to everybody, his journey and eventual adventure in this Great Sea would become a lot more precarious and dangerous.
Originally, Sebastian planned that after getting to the Great White Kingdom and meeting his dad, he would spend only a few days before leaving for the Dungeon of Souls to ply his adventure-filled trade there.
After getting to the Great White Kingdom and seeing his dad, all his goals to be accomplished here in the Green Mist Sea would be officially done.
Every other attraction to him was now in the Dungeon of Souls.
Originally, Sebastian thought that his first plan was ok but he changed his mind after the 5 bounty hunters defected to his camp.
Unlike the mighty Atlantis Empire, the Demon Inter-racial bounty organization didn’t have the technology to detect immediately if their bounty hunters went rogue. Even if they had, it was not used here.
The defection of the 5 bounty hunters was not detected yet, and this made Sebastian start getting ideas about this bounty organization.
From the explanation of the bounty hunters, he already knew of the Master Red Mask who was the one in charge of all activities in the Green Mist Sea.
Having impersonated the Dwarf Merchant successfully, Sebastian was more confident now, he could impersonate this Master Red Mask also.
If he could worm his way into this bounty organization that spanned across great sea borders, his transition into the Dungeon of Souls would be a lot smoother.
This was the reason why Sebastian’s next plan was to raid the Green Mist Sea headquarters of this bounty organization and impersonate their leader.
It was a significant and extremely dangerous plan but he believed that with his new subordinates, they were up to the task.
All this would only happen after he left the Great White Kingdom.
Seeing the radical plans of his new leader, Captain Omega got a new appreciation for Sebastian’s imagination and intelligence, he smiled.
After 2 more days of nonstop traveling, they finally arrived at the region of the Green Mist Sea that was in the control of the Great White Kingdom.
