Chapter 327: Chapter 169: We Have Them Surrounded
"Your—your arm... Where is your arm?"
"Those villains chopped off Daddy’s arm!"
The child suddenly burst into tears.
"They said Mother isn’t a good person. When Daddy tried to reason with them, they—they chopped off his arm."
"It’s okay, it’s okay."
Feng Jihen wiped the tears from Hu Yue’e’s face with his one remaining hand.
"See? I’m alive and well, aren’t I?"
"Are... are you alright? Did they... did they..."
For a moment, a look of remorse crossed Feng Jihen’s face as an unknown thought struck him.
"It’s my fault... I was useless..."
Hearing this, Fang Shuwen simply couldn’t resist letting out a cough.
"Pardon me, you two. A family reunion is a wonderful thing, certainly worth celebrating."
"But perhaps you could save the conversation for after you’re out of this cell?"
Hu Yue’e nodded hurriedly.
"Yes, Hero Fang is right. Please, Hero Fang, get my husband and child out of here..."
Without another word, Fang Shuwen casually grabbed the bronze lock on the cell door.
With a squeeze of his five fingers—CRACK—he crushed the lock to pieces.
Feng Jihen paid no mind to anything else. He scrambled to open the cell door and rushed out, pulling Hu Yue’e into his embrace.
The child stumbled forward, trying to squeeze in between the two of them, but couldn’t wedge his way in.
Fang Shuwen was left speechless by the scene. He reached out and gently patted the child’s head.
"When they die in a hundred years, make sure to bury them separately."
"Huh?"
The child didn’t understand. Why was this man talking about burying his parents?
When Feng Jihen and Hu Yue’e came to their senses, they hurriedly apologized to Fang Shuwen.
Fang Shuwen waved his hand dismissively.
"I’ve done what I promised."
"Eldest Young Master Feng, are there any of your Feng Family Manor people still outside? If not... I’m about to go on a killing spree."
Feng Jihen was stunned speechless. He quickly tried to dissuade him.
"My good man, you mustn’t be so reckless."
"The Feng Family Manor is now occupied by men from the Seven Kills Hall and the Residual Snow Black Sword."
"These people are vicious and their Martial Arts are formidable. You can’t possibly fight them alone!"
"Once I’m out, I will issue a decree to the Jianghu and proclaim what has happened to the Feng Family Manor! I’ll call upon all righteous heroes to come and slay these demons!"
"No need to go to all that trouble."
Fang Shuwen muttered, but didn’t elaborate. He simply continued walking toward the exit, casually opening the other cell doors as he went.
The prisoners filed out one by one. Feng Jihen saw Fang Shuwen heading for the exit and opened his mouth to say more, but Hu Yue’e grabbed him and pulled him along.
As they walked, he couldn’t help but ask:
"Yue’e, who is this man? Where did you find him?"
Hu Yue’e’s expression was complicated. After a moment’s hesitation, she decided to tell him the truth.
After listening, Feng Jihen felt no resentment, only heartache for what his wife had been through. He squeezed her hand tighter. But when the full story sank in, he asked in astonishment:
"You’re saying... he’s *the* Fang Shuwen?!"
"The... Demon Evil God?!"
Hu Yue’e nodded.
"The very same. The Residual Snow Black Sword and the others only attacked our Feng Family Manor to deal with him."
"They were using me as a pawn. But... I didn’t follow their plan."
Feng Jihen nodded at once.
"A man of honor must know what to do and what not to do. We have no past grievances or present quarrel with this Fang Shuwen. Why should we want to kill him?"
"But since he agreed to your plea and came to the Feng Family Manor to save us..."
"...it’s clear the rumors in the Jianghu are false! This Demon Evil God is actually a true, wandering hero!"
Hu Yue’e nodded vigorously.
"He is!"
In truth, what she had done was incredibly risky.
Telling Fang Shuwen the truth was a massive gamble to begin with.
If she had lost that bet, Fang Shuwen not only wouldn’t have come to the rescue, but he might have even killed her to tie up loose ends before steering well clear of the Feng Family Manor.
In fact, that was the most likely outcome.
But Hu Yue’e had told him anyway.
She’d rather take a bold chance than be manipulated and led down a dark path.
Her character was truly formidable.
"We can’t let our benefactor face those people alone. The Feng Family Manor must lend its strength."
With a rallying cry from Feng Jihen, the disciples he had just freed came forward to pay their respects. Then, with Hu Yue’e by his side, he led the Feng Family Manor disciples in a rush out of the dungeon.
Whether it was to aid Fang Shuwen or to seek revenge on the Residual Snow Black Sword, this was a battle they had to fight.
But when they burst out of the dungeon, they found Fang Shuwen standing not far from the entrance.
He was completely surrounded.
A dense crowd packed the area, all of them disciples of the Seven Kills Hall.
Among them, a few figures stood out.
There was the Burning Heart Monster in his fiery red Daoist robe.
The Blood Sea Ghost Lady, clad in black and with her head and face concealed.
The one wearing a blood-red mask was none other than the Seven Kills Hall Master.
He sat enthroned on a grand armchair, flanked by the seven top assassins of the Seven Kills Hall.
And perched on the upturned eaves of the roof directly ahead sat another figure.
The man cradled a jet-black longsword, his legs dangling casually, giving him a look of relaxed indifference.
He also wore a mask, but it was only a half-mask.
The mask bore no design; it looked like a piece of pale human skin grafted onto his face, creating a truly grotesque impression.
Feng Jihen’s heart tightened. ’Have we already drawn their attention?’
He took a deep breath and turned to tell Hu Yue’e to look after their son, but as he glanced down, his expression changed dramatically.
