Chapter 129: Dead Man Tell A Tale
"Leave her be. That girl loves her dad, that’s all."
After Hina left, the Matriarch spoke softly to the completely stunned friends.
Even though she highly disliked the corporate boomer herself, what she just said was 100% true under the heavens.
But Leo suddenly bowed down, his protagonist politeness kicking back into overdrive.
"Sorry Matriarch for saying stuff like that about your husband."
The Matriarch just dismissively waved her elegant hand, not even looking back at him.
"There’s no need for that. I understand where your frustration is from."
Let’s be real for a second.
The old, traditional Matriarch would have absolutely exploded the exact moment someone insulted her family members at her own breakfast table.
She would have launched a high-tier aura attack to teach them a lesson.
But this current version of the Matriarch was just tired and overwhelmed as hell.
The chaotic events of the past twenty-four hours were taking a massive mental toll on her brain.
She simply had zero energy left to care about a silly teenager argument.
Not to mention the highly illegal fact that she currently had a massive, naked guest corpse rotting in the upper east wing that she needed to personally dispose of before the lunch rush.
’Can’t get side-tracked over some high school drama right now. I have to clean up a literal murder scene before the Ryuga family smells the blood.’
She slowly stood up from her seat, smoothing out her royal robes with a practiced grace.
"You guys continue without me. There is something important I have to take care of immediately."
With that, the Matriarch turned on her heel and left the dining hall with a fast, heavy stride.
Lily watched the Matriarch go, lowering her head as she bowed from behind the tea cart.
"..."
She knew exactly where her boss was going.
She knew the exact room, the exact puddle of blood, and the exact colossal weapon that was currently lying lifeless on the floorboards upstairs.
’Why the hell am I still feeling a sudden wave of sorrow for that lawless guy anyway?’
’He literally ruined my physical structural integrity just last night!’
’Logically, I should be celebrating his deletion!’
She really didn’t know the scientific reason behind her mixed emotions.
But fingers crossed, she will definitely know about it in the coming days!
....
Creak...
She pushed her head through the small opening first, wanting to check the scene thoroughly before actually walking inside.
After all, even if she was a peak S-rank powerhouse, she could still get struck by a sudden wave of rotting corpse smell, or worse, some hidden trap left behind by the killer.
You simply couldn’t take a single chance when dealing with that abomination of a boy.
The guy was a literal natural disaster in human form.
"Phew... there’s his naked ass!"
The Matriarch let out a massive sigh of relief upon seeing the completely naked body of the rogue sprawled out on the floorboards.
Blood splattered all over the expensive carpets.
It was like a modern art painting, if the artist was completely unhinged and obsessed with crime scenes.
"She really did her work properly, huh?"
Honestly, the Matriarch had been secretly worried that this cockroach-like boy would somehow survive the hit through some ridiculous main-character plot armor.
She half-expected him to just pop up, wipe the blood off, and ask for seconds.
But it turned out her anxieties were completely unfounded.
Turns out, getting your throat violently slit from ear to ear actually does kill a person under the heavens. Science wins this round.
Seeing that the coast was 100% clear, she finally stepped into the room and closed the heavy wooden door behind her with a soft click.
Time for a quick cleanup operation now.
She walked closer to the puddle, her eyes instinctively drifting down to the corpse’s lower half.
Even in cold, lifeless defeat, that monstrous weapon of his was still looking ridiculously large against the floor, practically defying the laws of gravity and post-mortem biology.
It was like a fallen monument to pure degeneracy.
’Ugh, even dead he manages to look completely shameless. It’s like his lower half didn’t get the memo that the rest of his body is deceased.’
She reached into her spatial ring to pull out a high-grade cleaning scroll, ready to wipe this entire mistake from the face of the earth before the cleaning staff filed a union complaint.
Whoosh~
The magical cleaning scroll popped into her hands like a highly illegal late-night delivery.
But even with the magical equivalent of a body bag ready to go, her eyes were completely glued to the boy’s stupidly handsome, naked body.
’Hmph... he looks just like his dad...’
A quick, highly unscientific rosy red crept onto her mature cheeks.
See, the Matriarch wasn’t always an ice-cold clan boss.
Once upon a time, she was just a little woman born into a rich aristocratic family, and like all young girls reading too many romance novels, she too had a prince charming.
But the thing was, arranged marriages exist.
Not everything you wish for actually comes true.
"I chose this life... this is the way forward."
She sighed, violently shaking her head to clear the forbidden thoughts.
There was absolutely no use pondering about the past. She couldn’t change history.
The boy was currently a corpse because she personally ordered his death.
And she did it to protect her family... for the family name... the exact same name she was basically sold off into like a premium livestock asset.
The Matriarch chuckled bitterly to herself at her own tragic, ironic little life.
Then, she knelt down on the bloody floorboards, carefully placing the disposal scroll directly onto the handsome boy’s chest.
Her eyes automatically rebelled against her brain, gazing towards his ridiculously handsome face one last time.
Taking a quiet moment of weakness, she reached out and gently slid a stray lock of hair away from his eyes, feeling like the main character of a low-budget soap opera.
"It’s a tragedy... you just look way too much like your father..."
Leaning down, the Matriarch placed a gentle, dramatic kiss right on his forehead.
"Farewell—huh?!"
She was just about to place her hand on the scroll and flush his entire existence down the magical toilet, when her peripheral vision suddenly caught a completely physics-defying sight.
She slowly looked down towards his lower half.
"What the!!!"
Boing~ Boing~
Like a giant inflatable tube man at a used car dealership, his little brother, which was supposed to be completely dead and lifeless, was currently pitching a massive, aggressive tent.
The girthy, lengthy, veiny monster was boinging up and down in full mast, practically doing a victory dance right in the middle of the crime scene!
’How in the name of biology is that even possible?! The boy is a literal corpse! His throat is cut! Dead men do not get morning wood!’
"Unless!!!"
She snapped her head back up to his face and violently scrambled backward across the floor like a frightened crab.
The ’dead’ boy’s eyes were completely wide awake.
He wasn’t dead at all.
He was currently staring right at her, smiling like an absolute, shameless idiot while lying in a puddle of his own fake blood.
"I had planned to watch this tragic romance play out until the very end, but damn woman, your kiss made the beast awaken... hehehe."
