Chapter 127: The day after death!

"M-Matriarch, that..."

Lily burst into the room. She was shaking like a wet dog.

Running down the grand stairs covered in a dead guy’s juices was not on her schedule today.

People usually don’t just get their heads halfway detached while someone is aggressively practicing hospitality on them.

The Matriarch looked up from her desk.

She saw Lily drenched in fresh red fluid, looking like a survivor from a horror movie. She didn’t even drop her pen. She just smiled.

"So, it is finally done."

"D-Done? What? You mean... it was you?!"

’Oh thank goodness, the black mailer is a corpse. My beautiful reputation is completely safe.’

’Nobody will ever find out about the heaven buns incident from three years ago.’

"Yes, indeed that was me. That boy could not be left alone. The longer we wait, the more destruction he causes to everyone around him. After all, you know it yourself, don’t you?"

Lily stood there with her mouth open.

She had her doubts before.

Kaizen was a massive menace.

He definitely had a waiting list of angry husbands and rival fighters wanting to delete him from existence.

But she really didn’t expect her own boss to hire a professional hitman to do the job right while she was in the middle of working on the project.

’Wait, if she already hired a killer, why did she make me put poison all over my mouth?!’

’I almost swallowed that stuff! My jaw is literally locking up right now for absolutely no reason!’

"But Matriarch... I was right there! His thing was literally touching my face when the blade came out! Why did you send me in if you had a backup plan?!"

"A good leader always covers all angles, Lily. You were the perfect distraction. He was too busy enjoying your enthusiastic apology to notice a blade behind his neck."

’Actually, I just wanted to make sure he was thoroughly distracted. Plus, seeing that annoying rogue get interrupted at the best part is a nice bonus.’

"T-That’s..."

Lily couldn’t even argue with the logic.

It was a completely wild strategy, but it worked.

The physical and mental damage done to her poor body last night was truly ridiculous.

Her entire marriage life with Yuki was currently hanging by a tiny thread because of that villain’s monstrous endurance.

Thinking about it logically, it was definitely better that the demon died before her lower half suffered any more permanent structural changes.

"So, he is completely gone? No pulse?"

"The assassin put a knife straight through his heart after the throat cut, Matriarch. There is no way he is coming back from that."

’Poor Yuki... at least now I don’t have to explain why I look at his forearm with a sad expression anymore.’

"Excellent. Go wash your face, Lily. You look like a barbarian. We can finally forget this guest ever stayed in our castle."

...

The next morning at the grand breakfast table, the atmosphere was completely tense.

All the high-status guests were seated, ready to eat, while Lily nervously served the food.

The Matriarch casually took her seat at the head of the table, wearing a very satisfied, small smile because she knew the biggest problem in the castle was currently a cold corpse.

Suddenly, Leo kun looked around the room and asked the most awkward question possible.

"Hey, where is my beloved bestie Kaizen? He is usually the first one down here causing trouble."

Lily violently jolted in surprise, nearly dropping a plate of sausages right onto the floor.

She had absolutely zero sleep last night.

Her brain was completely fried from repeating the gory image of the bedroom attack over and over again.

The funny thing was, even though she logically hated that naked demon with every fiber of her being, she wasn’t feeling relieved at all today.

Instead, she felt this weird, empty hole in her chest, which was completely unscientific.

’Why the hell am I feeling sad about a dead villain?’

’He literally violated my pure body for hours straight! Logically, I should be throwing a massive festival right now!’

She glanced at the empty chair where the monster usually sat, completely confused by her own mixed emotions while the Matriarch calmly sipped her morning tea.

"He probably just overslept, Leo."

The Matriarch said smoothly, cutting into her morning pastry with absolute peace in her soul.

"Young men his age often lack discipline."

’He’s actually sleeping the eternal sleep under the heavens. Truly the best breakfast I’ve had in three years.’

Hina slowly stopped chewing, her eyes instantly shifting over to her mother.

She scrutinized every single micro-expression on the Matriarch’s face, feeling that something was completely fishy.

The Matriarch noticed the intense gaze mid-bite and looked up.

Hina narrowed her eyes to absolute slits, trying to read her mother’s thoughts.

The Matriarch simply flashed a victorious, small smirk and gestured with her fork for her daughter to keep eating.

Hina reluctantly took a bite of her bacon, but her eyes never left her mother’s face for a single second.

"Ugh, where is that idiot anyway?"

Sera complained loudly, aggressively stabbing a sausage with her fork and waving it around.

"I seriously miss him. I wanted to use him as a personal punching bag today since I haven’t seen his annoying face all morning. I’m going to make him train with me later and completely beat his ass into the dirt!"

She threw a few mock punches in the air, mimicking how she was going to absolutely dismantle the rogue.

Lily violently jolted again from behind the tea cart.

’Beat that demon’s ass?! Is this little girl completely insane?!’

Lily stared at Sera with pure, unadulterated disbelief.

’Doesn’t she know who he truly is?’

’He is a literal, lawless beast under the heavens!’

’If this innocent girl had actually seen the true size of his monstrous morning weapon, she wouldn’t be talking about punching bags at all.’

’She would be a complete, blushing slave begging for mercy on her knees just like the rest of us!’

"Haha, don’t worry, Sera chan."

Leo kun replied with a bright, clueless protagonist smile.

"I am completely sure my bestie Kaizen would be totally down for a training match. He’s always looking for ways to help everyone become stronger."

On the other hand, Kaito sat completely still at the corner of the table.

He was brooding heavily, his food completely untouched as he stared down at his plate with a dark expression.

"Something is wrong. Kaizen’s energy signature completely vanished from the castle last night. Something feels incredibly wrong about this whole situation."

But as usual, absolutely everybody ignored Kaito’s brooding warning because he was always acting like a dramatic background character.

Only Lily froze completely on the spot, taking his words with 100% seriousness.

’Whoa! He actually knows?! What the hell is a life energy signature anyway? Is that some high-tier tracker code?!’

Lily swallowed a massive mouthful of saliva, her hands trembling as she shot a frantic look at the Matriarch.

But the Matriarch remained completely normal, entirely unfazed by the teenager’s intuition.

"Since the weather is so lovely today, why don’t you all take a grand trip around the castle grounds later."

The Matriarch suggested smoothly, taking a elegant sip of her tea.

"A little scenery change is good for everyone’s health."

’I desperately need a few hours of absolute distraction so I can personally dispose of that degenerate’s corpse anyway.’

At first, the Matriarch’s plan was to simply leave Kaizen’s body rotting right there in the guest quarters.

Let someone else discover the bloody mess, call it a random dark guild assassination, and let the blame fall on some other rival families under the heavens.

No suspicious eyes would ever point to her.

But thinking about it again this morning, that was a catastrophic strategy.

If a high-tier guest from the Ryuga family died in her castle, a massive investigation would immediately launch.

Those guys at the Ryuga family would arrive here in person to inspect the crime scene.

And along with them... that guy would also come.

The Matriarch’s mature face suddenly flushed into a deep, unscientific rosy red color at the mere thought of Kaizen’s father.

’There is absolutely no way under the heavens I can face that man right now! Nop! Very, very bad!’

She suddenly felt a burning gaze on her again.

She snapped out of her forbidden memories and looked across the table.

Hina was once again narrowing her eyes to absolute slits, tracking her mother’s sudden facial temperature hike.

This time, the S-rank Matriarch actually looked away in panic, her mature face still completely red.

She absolutely couldn’t let her daughter catch onto her internal crisis.

’Wait... there is no way Hina used her special Ghost Eyes last night and saw the entire assassination, right?’

That was a highly terrifying question.

But the Matriarch quickly reassured herself.

No, everything was done in absolute stealth.

Even the poison application by Lily was a top-secret project.

There was simply no way for the girl to know a thing.

’There is no need to panic now.’

’Our clan has ruthlessly disposed of many powerful entities in our path over the years.’

’What is one more lawless boy under the heavens...?’

But damn it all.

The boy looked exactly like his father.

The resemblance was simply too strong.

His stupid, arrogant grin, his deeply mocking words, his annoying handsomeness... a-and that ridiculously massive morning dick...

The Matriarch’s face became more and more red by the second, her S-rank composure completely taking a nose dive into the dirt right in front of her breakfast plate.

It was at that moment, somebody walked down from the stairs...

And it was...
