Chapter 1164: Chapter 1160: Fine, Divorce (Part 2)
"Luke, tell me, today we are going to..."
"Going for a divorce, right?" He stood up, moving closer to her, "Wait for me in the lobby downstairs. I’ll take a shower and come down."
With that, he didn’t spare Eva Miller another glance and walked straight out of the study towards the bathroom.
Eva hung her head, took a deep breath from the bottom of her heart, and then walked downstairs.
In the bathroom.
Cold water flowed down from above his head. He stood under the stream, eyes closed, slightly tilting his head back. His uncontrollable emotions led him to punch the wall once more.
Eva waited and waited; almost an hour passed before he finally came down from upstairs.
He was in a sharp black suit, tall and slender, appearing much different from the desolation he had shown in the study.
"Second Young Master, would you like some breakfast first?" The butler couldn’t help but step forward and inquire as he saw Luke heading straight for the lobby exit.
Luke gazed coldly at Eva, who was closely following him. Her demeanor seemed impatient, as if she couldn’t wait to be free of him. He gave a fleeting, inscrutable smile, then suddenly turned around and headed towards the dining room.
"Having breakfast before the divorce wouldn’t hurt, right?" His tone carried a slight increase in weight.
Divorce?
The nearby maid and butler were taken aback. Was the young master and young madam going for a divorce so early in the day?
"Young Master, Young Madam, you should really reconsider this divorce matter. Young Madam, you’re still carrying a child. How can you..." The butler tried persuading, but both Eva and Luke acted as if they hadn’t heard anything, with Luke leisurely eating breakfast.
"Luke, hurry up. Are you having breakfast or lunch?" Eva glanced at the time. If this dragged on, it would soon be noon. After last night’s nightmare, she couldn’t wait to leave him; she couldn’t stand being around him for another moment.
He didn’t argue further, stood up, grabbed the car keys, and walked out.
The car stopped in front of the civil affairs building, and as it came to a halt, they saw someone approaching.
It was Sophie Smith and Asher Land.
"Sophie, why are you here?" Eva was puzzled. She hadn’t disclosed to anyone about her impending divorce with Luke. She cast her gaze towards Luke standing on one side; she didn’t reveal it, so did Luke?
"Eva, it’s not Second Brother’s fault." Sophie quickly explained, afraid their misunderstanding would deepen. After calling Luke last night and finding out they were getting a divorce, Sophie felt uneasy.
Sophie stood firmly in front of her, and Eva’s expression turned more serious. She knew Sophie and Asher appearing together meant they were trying to dissuade them from divorcing.
"Sophie, step aside. Let us finish the paperwork first, we’ll talk later."
"Wait, Eva..." Sophie grabbed Eva’s wrist, "Let’s wait a bit."
Wait?
They had finally reached the entrance of the civil affairs office. What else was there to wait for?
Luke said nothing more, stepping forward towards inside, while Eva ’refused to be outdone’, closely tailing him, the two seemingly rather stubborn.
Just as Sophie felt helpless, a black sedan car slowly stopped in front of the civil affairs square.
"Wait, Eva." Sophie seemed to have seen a savior.
