Chapter 1163: Chapter 1159: Fine, Divorce (Part 1)

Luke Land placed the food he was holding back onto the dining table, then walked to the study.

About half an hour later, he finally returned to the master bedroom.

He reached out, tossing two marriage certificates onto the bed. Eva Miller glanced over in that direction, and upon seeing those two small red books, her originally blank eyes suddenly showed some emotional fluctuation.

She slowly sat up, took those two small red books, and then raised her gaze to Luke Land.

"What do you mean?" Her voice was somewhat hoarse, somewhat shaky.

"Congratulations, you can get rid of me now. Let’s divorce."

The change in Luke Land’s attitude was so drastic that Eva Miller didn’t react immediately.

"You say, divorce? Are you serious?"

Being with him, she was always in this life-or-death state; how could he not be serious?

Luke Land didn’t answer, just turned around and strode out.

Eva Miller’s grip on those two marriage certificates tightened, and tears started streaming down. Seeing the tears fall on the back of her hand startled her, and she quickly reached out to wipe them away.

"Eva Miller, are you crazy? Why are you crying? Tomorrow, tomorrow you can be free..."

Luke Land, this scumbag, this lunatic, she was finally going to get rid of him.

Deep into the night, a faint light remained in the study. Luke Land smoked one cigarette after another, the ashtray piled high with cigarette butts.

The phone vibrated on the desk, and he reached out to answer the call.

"Luke," Sophie Smith lowered her voice, "Are you with Eva right now? Are you... are you both okay?"

"We’re fine."

Hearing those simple words, Sophie Smith immediately breathed a sigh of relief, thinking Eva Miller had figured things out. She was about to say something when Luke Land spoke again.

"We’re getting divorced tomorrow."

"What?" Sophie Smith was stunned, "You... you just said everything was fine, so why are you getting a divorce?"

"Isn’t it fine to divorce?" He chuckled self-deprecatingly, "At least, it’s good for her."

"Luke, don’t abandon Eva." Sophie hesitated before speaking her mind openly, "If you divorce her, what will she do with her pregnancy? How will she manage in the future?"

Luke Land felt a sharp pain inside. He couldn’t bear to let her leave, but if she stayed with him, there would only be suffering—so why force her to stay?

"Luke, say something, can’t you not divorce Eva?" Sophie was becoming more anxious as Luke Land remained silent for a long time.

"Sophie, stop talking. It’s decided, and I can’t take it back."

After speaking, Luke Land hung up the phone.

He closed his eyes, trying to calm his mind, but no matter what, he couldn’t find peace.

A sleepless night.

Today, Eva Miller woke up especially early because Luke Land mentioned they were going to handle the divorce procedures today.

But she waited in the downstairs hall for a long time, and Luke Land hadn’t come down from upstairs. After hesitating for a while, she still decided to go to the study.

When she opened the study door, a strong smell of smoke and alcohol reached her nose, and she instinctively frowned.

Hearing a sound, Luke Land raised his head, and upon seeing Eva Miller, he didn’t hesitate and extinguished the cigarette in his hand.

"You should go out first." The room was filled with the overwhelming smell of smoke and alcohol.
