Sophie looked up somewhat surprised; she couldn’t fathom Asher Land’s emotions at the moment. Maybe he was angry, but he was still trying hard to restrain himself, not letting himself lose his temper.
"Asher Land..." she called his name cautiously, her words carrying a hint of appeasement.

Before she could finish her words, Asher Land turned around and placed his slender index finger on her lips, "Don’t say it."
He pulled her into his arms. Sophie leaned against his chest, quietly feeling his strong and powerful heartbeat.

In the evening, it was Asher Land who personally delivered Irene Morton’s meal to her room.
