Chapter 995: Chapter 995: Will Accompany You_1
Her tone was incredibly serious, showing no signs of lying.
Arnold was so annoyed that he developed a headache.
He longed to hold her in his arms and properly deal with her, but upon meeting those misty eyes, he couldn’t bring himself to do anything.
All he could say indifferently was, "You’ve calculated quite well."
"Of course." The girl’s eyes and the corners of her mouth were brimming with a smile.
Outside the window it was dark and early dawn, yet her eyes were unique, shining stars so captivating he wanted to hide them away and keep them by his side forever.
He intended to push her hand away to calm down, but Hannah wouldn’t let go, instead holding on even tighter, "Don’t be mad, even though I can’t give you a title now, I promise there’s only room for you in my heart."
She looked up, her smile blooming like spring, her bright eyes brimming with sincerity, delivering lines like a skilled playboy.
This time, Arnold really laughed out of exasperation, yet his voice was devoid of emotion, "And aren’t you afraid that I’ll no longer want you?"
"It’s only I who wouldn’t want you," Hannah instinctively retorted, then looked at him with a touch of grievance.
With the last bit of inebriation, her eyes quickly misted over, her voice feebly soft, "Do you really not want me anymore?"
Her eyes were as clear as amber, looking as if they could spill tears at any moment.
Arnold shifted his gaze away, deliberately concealing the gentleness in his eyes, "You’re unwilling to give me a title, but there are many outside who are willing."
Hannah blinked hard, her tears sticking to her eyelashes, her red lips parted and closed for quite a while as if struggling, before finally saying, "But none of them will be as pretty as me."
Still as petulant and confident as ever.
She shed a few tears, and despite her extreme confidence in her appearance, a hint of worry was visible in her eyes.
Arnold had no choice but to reach out to wipe her tears, his tone unconsciously softening, "It doesn’t matter, I can make do."
She was stunned.
All the emotions in her eyes solidified and then transformed into tears that fell unchecked.
One by one, they fell, scalding the back of Arnold’s hand painfully.
"Are you lying to me?"
The girl’s tearful appearance is pitiful, and even her challenging voice was choked, weak and unassertive.
Arnold had to feign composure, slowly wiping away her tears, and gently kissing her flushed cheek, he said lightly, "Yes, I’m lying to you."
He admitted to the deceit.
Seeing her cry, he could not bear to lie to her for even a second longer.
Her beautiful face was one anyone would like, but the one he loved the most now was her, as a person.
Her eyes were filled with tears, unstoppable despite her wish to, her voice growing hoarse, "What if... what if I die in the future, would you still go find someone else?"
Arnold’s brow furrowed, his hand reaching out to caress her cheek, fingertips soaked with her tears.
He bowed his head and affectionately kissed the corner of her eye, "I won’t, I’ll join you."
"Lies." Hannah turned her face away, wiping her tears herself, "Men are the biggest liars, you’ll definitely not be able to bear loneliness and find someone else."
He pulled her into his arms, listening to her gradually steadying breath, turned his head to look at the drizzle falling outside the car window, his gaze distant, his voice deep and pleasing, "I won’t."
