Chapter 949: Chapter 949: Potential_1

"No matter what, at least I have never used Hannah, nor have I ever hurt her."

At least, not in this lifetime.

These words struck home, and Louis Snyder had no way to refute them.

He didn’t even have the courage to bring these matters up in front of Hannah; he didn’t dare to ask for her forgiveness because he feared it would be met with her undisputed rejection and estrangement.

He would rather doggedly follow her around like now, even if to her he was no more than an expendable pet.

The two of them were at loggerheads, taunting each other, and ended on a sour note.

But in fact, both of them knew that no matter how much they argued, it wouldn’t change the fact that Hannah had already thrown herself into someone else’s arms.

Arnold Simmons, indeed, was a man that they both hated and envied.

Jealous of his perfect timing, never having done anything to hurt Hannah, an overwhelming power that allowed him to protect his loved one under his wing.

Such a crushing defeat and loss due to wealth and power would definitely never befall him.

*

Upstairs, hotel room.

Hannah made a call to Arnold Simmons, and it was picked up instantly.

As if he had been waiting all along.

Arnold had flown abroad for a trip, and it was still morning there.

Dressed in a suit tailored to perfection, probably just finished discussing business, his handsome features carried an air of aloofness that only dissipated upon seeing Hannah.

His voice turned soft as well, "Are you done with your work?"

Hannah moved a bit closer to her phone screen, her cheeks blushing, all exposed to the camera, her voice tinged with fatigue, "Just got back, in the hotel room."

No sooner had she finished speaking than she couldn’t suppress a yawn, tears gathered at the corners of her eyes, smudging the flush of red, her lips more luscious than usual.

She had probably been drinking, now the intoxication suddenly surged.

"Had alcohol?"

Arnold frowned, like a strict patriarch, his fingertips tapping on the desk, emanating an endless sense of oppression.

His assistant, standing at the side, kept retreating, wishing to be as far away as possible from that place.

Ultimately, it was Thomas Sanders who couldn’t stand it anymore, taking the documents from the assistant’s hand and placing them on Arnold’s desk.

His eyes roamed guiltily to Arnold’s phone screen, nearly nosebleeding.

The young lady was as beautiful as she was vibrant, her face even when not smiling was sweet, let alone when she was coquettishly addressing someone.

Thinking back to the last meeting at Arnold’s home, he was marvelled at first sight, just a pity he hadn’t been able to linger longer.

Thomas was lost in his own thoughts, until he was abruptly awakened by a chilling gaze that fell upon him.

Arnold had flipped his phone at some point, the tender expression gone, replaced by coldness, "You think she’s pretty?"

Thomas, a veteran at flirting, praised readily, "She’s gorgeous, of course she is pretty, those eyes, that nose, those lips, they look like they’ve been painted, now that I compare, all the girls I’ve charmed over the past twenty or so years were nothing... Goodbye, President Simmons, I’ve got things to do, so I’ll be off."

Thomas, realizing what he said, could hardly speak clearly as he turned and fled, not forgetting to drag the dazed assistant with him.

For the first time in his life, he despised his own unguarded mouth, was Arnold’s girlfriend someone he could flirt with!

On the other end of the phone, seeing the suddenly darkening screen, Hannah thought there was a problem with her phone.

Just as she was about to hang up and redial, she heard a man’s voice on the other end of the call.

The voice was familiar to her ears, but she couldn’t place it.

However, the praises spoken about her sounded very pleasing.

Someone with potential.
