Chapter 948: Chapter 948: Not His Match_1
The man was in white shirt and black trousers, handsome as a tall, graceful tree, yet there lingered about him an inexplicable aura of desolation.
A curve tugged at the corners of his lips, as if he were mocking himself.
"Mr. Qualls still haunts us like an unrelenting spirit,"
The young man approached, a docile smile on his face, but his words were sharp and indifferent.
Jackie turned his head, his genial façade impeccable to a fault, and his gaze lingered for a moment on the youth’s dark eyes before drifting away with a light chuckle, "It seems you know everything now."
Louis Snyder reined in his smile, coldly eyeing the man before him, "So you knew all along, didn’t you?"
Jackie glanced at him sideways, his hand slipping into his pocket and tightening into a fist before pulling it back out, sensing the chilling cold in the air and laughing softly, "Quite early, yes."
Earlier than everyone else.
And more unexpected than anyone could have imagined.
He thought that if he got a second chance, the worst scenario would be Hannah failing to let go of her love for George River and still wanting to return to his side.
He had even prepared himself to forcibly take her away if necessary.
After all, he had a lifetime to cultivate a relationship with Hannah slowly and then wait for the right time to present her to everyone.
Unfortunately, all of this was just his own beautiful illusion.
The irony was that the person beside Hannah was Arnold Simmons.
He was no match for that man, not even with a second chance.
Unless... he truly made up his mind to give up everything.
Louis Snyder thought back to the limited information he had found online and asked, "You know that man, don’t you?"
There was so little information about Arnold Simmons online that, had he not pulled some strings to inquire, he might not even have known the man’s name.
Hearing this question, Jackie finally looked at Louis Snyder properly, witnessing the turbulent emotions in the youth’s eyes.
His voice remained calm and gentle, "Louis, you can’t match that man."
That was the truth.
Louis’s demeanor was gloomy and dark, as his gaze at Jackie was like a venomous ice blade.
The impulsiveness of youth was on full display in this moment, "I’m not as cowardly as you are. No matter how high that man’s status is, I won’t give up."
Jackie simply laughed, his tone devoid of mockery, merely stating a fact calmly, "Louis, if you still remember, you should recall how you used Hannah in the beginning. Do you think she would possibly be with you?"
The man’s gaze was cold, sharper than the brooding darkness in the young man’s eyes.
Perhaps for a moment, they both sensed a similar vibe in each other.
But it was only for a moment.
As the past was dredged up, the young man’s face paled, but rage burned in his eyes as he glared at the man before him and sarcastically retorted without any politeness, "What about you, Mr. Qualls? At your age, why keep clinging to Hannah, especially since you were so intimate with Tiffany Lynch before."
Louis had spent some time with Tiffany Lynch in the past, and of course, the intimate details he’d cunningly coaxed from her included plenty of revelations.
About the existing contradictions and mistrust between her and George River, and about her special relationship with the famous movie star.
More than friends, less than lovers.
How interesting.
Jackie’s face showed a flicker of surprise, clearly not expecting that Louis would be privy to his personal matters with Tiffany.
But after all, as an actor, he quickly regained his composure, showing no signs of disturbance.
