Chapter 919: Chapter 919 A Lot of Money_1

Evening.

Arnold Simmons was gently drying the wet hair of the little girl in his arms, his brows lowered affectionately, and his actions extremely skillful, having done this many times before.

"Tomorrow, I have to make a trip back to the old Simmons family estate."

The old Simmons family estate had always been the residence of the Simmons family’s power-holders.

From Old Sir Simmons to Jimmy Simmons’s father, everyone thought that it would be Jimmy’s turn after his father’s passing—yet, out of nowhere, Arnold sprang up as an unexpected variable.

Logically, after the death of Old Sir Simmons, Arnold, being an illegitimate child, shouldn’t even have the right to step into the old Simmons family estate.

In big families, lineage is always highly valued.

But it was this very man who took over the Simmons Clan, becoming the unquestioned authority.

The others could only swallow their pride and ask him to return, but Arnold had not gone back once, and so the old Simmons estate remained empty.

It wasn’t until this one time that Jimmy brought it up himself, saying he wanted to go back to worship his parents and revisit where he lived as a child.

He didn’t refuse.

Hannah leaned into Arnold’s embrace and, after listening to him recount the whole situation, she asked again, "Can I go too?"

She tilted her face upward, her soft, pale cheeks still flushed with a rosy tint from the steam of the water, her lips fresh and tender, fetching and lovely.

Arnold bowed his head and kissed her cheek softly, his voice gentle and low, "If you want to go, of course you can."

Hannah sat up straight and buried herself in Arnold’s embrace abruptly, her sobbing came swiftly as her eyes reddened, "Arnold, will they not welcome me? Will they think I’m not good enough for you, and then try to send me away with a check..."

Her lips pouted, and tears came on cue.

Held within her eyes, they looked ever so pitiful.

Arnold pinched her cheek, smiling, "So, are you planning to leave me then?"

His calm words carried a hint of menace.

Hannah moved closer, wrapping her arms around his neck, burying her soft cheek against the man’s shoulder, her voice tenderly whispered, "Arnold, does your family have many elders?"

Arnold didn’t quite grasp why the conversation had suddenly turned in this direction but nodded anyway.

He didn’t tell her that, in fact, there were not many people returning tomorrow.

Hannah’s voice was gentle, "If I calculate it that way, won’t I be able to receive many checks?"

According to the domineering boss romance trope, the starting offer from the evil mother-in-law is usually five million; going by this standard, calculating a few tens of millions for herself seemed quite normal.

With so much money, she could squander it for quite some time.

Hannah was calculating meticulously, yet she didn’t notice Arnold’s eyes gradually darkening.

He asked, his tone softly inquiring, "A lot of money?"

Hannah nodded subconsciously, "Yes, it’s a lot."

A few tens of millions.

Rounded up, it’s nearly a hundred million.

Who would think that’s too much money?

Arnold persisted, "Can it be more than me?"

Hannah paused, then realized the logic, "That seems to make sense."

She had an epiphany, holding onto his neck, she exclaimed with surprise, "Now I finally understand why the female leads in domineering boss stories never bend for five million."

Indeed, the girl destined to be the female lead couldn’t be that foolish.

Arnold pinched the little girl’s cheek, his gaze deep, his voice low and coaxing like a temptation, "Since you’re so good at calculating, you should know what’s the most profitable."

The girl nodded, straightened up, and pecked him gently on the cheek, her voice soft and mellow, "I know, I know, I have to stick with you."

As she spoke, she leaned on his shoulder again, her blushing, petite face offered up to his lips, giggling sweetly, "Arnold, you actually just want to keep me by your side; I know it, you’re totally in love with me."

He looked down at the little girl with her lowered eyes and brows, her cheeks flush with shyness, looking like a delicate flower, yet...

Arnold captured her little hand that was creating chaos on his shirt and gazed at her soft, fair cheek that came close, giving off an enticing fragrance. His eyes darkened, yet he didn’t lean in; his voice husky, he confirmed, "Hmm, does that mean you want to run away?"
