Chapter 865: Chapter 865 Collision with the Door_1

Golden Lotus was torn between joy and concern; she was glad to be able to return, but the worry was that if their exploit using a bug to get back was discovered, they would probably become wanted criminals.

It sighed and retreated back into hiding.

Louis Snyder only saw George River from a distance, and not clearly.

It wasn’t until he inquired later that he confirmed George River had really come here.

An idea popped into his head and, upon asking, indeed Hannah was also nowhere to be seen.

By then the wind had died down, but the downpour persisted unabated. Louis ran toward the hotel without a second thought.

As soon as he reached the floor, he saw Hannah’s assistant squatting on the ground, occasionally pounding on the door and crying out, "What on earth is this, first Director River shows up and then Best Actor Qualls, would you two please let our Sister Winter go!"

After speaking, the assistant got back up, her belongings scattered on the floor. She patted the door again, but still, there was no response.

Having heard this, Louis approached and suddenly exclaimed, "Is Hannah inside?"

The assistant was startled and looked at Louis as if seeing a savior, "You’re Sister Winter’s brother, aren’t you? Please, hurry and save her. I heard sounds of a fight inside, and no matter how much I knock, the door won’t open. What if Sister Winter gets hurt?"

Crying, the assistant then realized that Louis, with his frail appearance and younger age, was probably not going to be of much help.

The spare key had been taken by Best Actor Qualls; what was she to do? Surely they couldn’t actually call the police?

Listening to her, Louis’s expression turned even darker, his entire being seeming to be engulfed in storm clouds, "Move aside!"

The assistant was taken aback, "What?"

Without replying this time, Louis took a few steps back and then, under the assistant’s astonished gaze, he violently kicked the door.

The sturdy wooden door trembled a couple of times, shedding a good amount of dust.

Unruffled, Louis stepped back again.

Inside the room.

Neither Jackie Qualls nor George River looked good, their faces marred with numerous wounds and their clothes stained with blood, dress shirts crumpled and smeared.

Although both men were utterly exhausted, their gazes never left one another, predatory and steadfast.

Leaning against the wall, Jackie struggled to stand, his laughter cold. "George River, you’ve monopolized Hannah for two years, two years that have ruined the best time of a girl’s life. Now that she’s finally taking steps to move on, do you really want to destroy her once again?"

George River was silent for a moment, his gaze drifting to Hannah, who appeared calm and detached from the affair, before returning his attention to Jackie, chuckling lightly, "You know she’s been with me for two years. What, has my man caught your eye? I could ignore your fling with Tiffany Lynch, but not Hannah. I address you as Best Actor, and you really take yourself that seriously?"

He undid the top button of his shirt collar, his eyes brimming with a threatening ferocity, "Jackie Qualls, do you really think you have the right to compete with me?"

It’s widely said that, glamorous as stars may appear, they are merely puppets manipulated by capital. Though it doesn’t apply to everyone, there’s certainly truth to it.

Even an actor with national fame like Jackie Qualls couldn’t escape the manipulation of capital.

If George River wished, he could certainly use his power to blacklist him.

That was one of the reasons why Jackie had faced a miserable end in his former life.

But this was, after all, a life reborn.

Despite it all, Jackie’s face still bore a distant, amiable smile.
