Chapter 863: Chapter 863 The Same Idea_1
The light dazzled George River, and by the time he regained his senses, he was already standing in front of Hannah, his tall figure completely shielding her – it was then that he perceived her petite stature.
As he looked down, what he saw were those enchanting eyes and eyebrows, with the corners of her eyes drawing out a touch of vivid crimson, as stunning as a rose. Delicate to the point of inspiring possessive desires, yet when one reached out to touch, it was like being pricked by a handful of thorns.
"Director River, mind your manners." She caught the man’s extended hand with a smile, exerting no strength, yet the man obediently surrendered to her.
"I apologize." Although he said this, George River made no move to step back, his gaze fixed on Hannah as if he were looking at his own possession, "Hannah, I can tell you genuinely want a place of your own in the entertainment circle. You should know that although Arnold Simmons is formidable, I still have a slight edge over him in this circle – besides, he’s currently being targeted by Jimmy Simmons and may not have the capacity to help you."
Initially, the River Clan had no plans to expand into the entertainment industry, but George River, due to his infatuation, established Prideful Entertainment offhandedly based on a casual remark from his first love, his unattainable crush.
Though George River wasn’t a commercial genius, he was the male lead, shrouded in an aura of predestination, and with the advantage of being first out of the gate, the development of Prideful Entertainment was indeed commendable.
So, George River’s words were indeed not false.
But fundamentally, George River had connections, while Arnold Simmons had the money. In a head-on clash, it was unclear who would come out on top.
Hannah curled her lips, smiling lightly, "Your uncle is in good health and full of energy. He’s not as incapable as you imply."
George River stiffened, anger flickering in his eyes as he gritted his teeth, "You promised me, my demands won’t be excessive."
"What might they be?"
"Stay with me..."
Before George River could finish his sentence, suddenly everything went dark before his eyes. Before he could react, a forceful weight came crashing down, flipping him onto the ground.
The dull sound of the collision was quickly drowned out by the wind and rain outside the window.
With his eyebrows tightly knitted, George River’s mouth soon sported a swollen redness, his black hair in disarray. Despite the dishevelment, he retained a dignified air. He looked at the man who had barged in with a teasing smile, "I wondered who it could be – turns out it’s Best Actor Qualls."
The door opened, and the assistant managed to catch a glimpse of Hannah, standing unharmed, but before they could utter a word, the door was slammed shut again.
The man leaned back against the doorframe, having carelessly tossed his coat aside. One hand was balled into a fist, the other loosened the tie at his neck, his gaze fixed intently on George River lying on the floor, his expression ice-cold.
Although many things had changed with the second chance, Jackie Qualls always remembered that in his previous life, Hannah had died on George River’s wedding day; thus, he had always kept an eye on George River’s movements.
From the moment George River entangled himself with Hannah, Jackie understood that this man harbored the same intentions as he did.
How could he just sit back? Compared to Arnold Simmons, he was more worried about George River, the man Hannah had once truly loved.
He had followed George River here, but unfortunately, he was a step too late, and had inadvertently given this man the opportunity to be alone in a room with Hannah. Thankfully, nothing had happened.
Jackie Qualls breathed a sigh of relief, and his gaze towards Hannah beside him softened again, laced with a hint of comfort, "Hannah, are you alright?"
Hannah stood to the side, unmoved by the sudden turmoil, in a vintage deep blue gown that gracefully reached her ankles.
