Chapter 862: Chapter 862 Your Affair_1

Some people are born with self-confidence, while others derive theirs from their family background or innate conditions.

In the case of George River, he probably had an equal measure of both.

He was overly confident, believing there wasn’t a woman by his side who wouldn’t love him. His thought processes were a maze full of pits, no matter how winding or convoluted, in the end, everything would lead back to himself, narcissistic and conceited.

But when he realized that this wasn’t the case, panic set in. Feelings once spurned due to unequal statuses now seemed like the fondest of memories to him.

Even a love at sixty could be stirred to a feverish ninety.

George River looked up at her, the light above glaringly bright, casting a chill and distance upon her, yet the smile melting in her eyes was so beautiful it was mesmerizing.

He changed the subject, his tone softening, and he pulled out his utmost sincerity, "What I just told you wasn’t a lie, the person behind Tiffany Lynch is Jimmy Simmons."

As he uttered the last two words, an additional edge crept into his eyes.

Hannah responded with sudden interest, flashing a brilliant smile, "Aren’t you two good buddies, has he stolen your love?"

She spoke with ease, as if purely amused by the situation. However, George River suddenly contained the emotion in his eyes, frowning, "Tiffany Lynch and I parted ways amicably." 𝘧𝘳𝘦ℯ𝓌𝘦𝒷𝘯𝑜𝑣𝘦𝓁.𝒸𝘰𝓂

Hannah shrugged, her smile alluring, "Whether it was amicable or not is your business."

George River, taken aback, then stood up, "Hannah, I just want to remind you, Jimmy Simmons is the formal heir of the Simmons Family, the President of the Simmons Clan."

Hannah still didn’t seem to care, looking at him with a laugh, a mischievous glint in her eyes.

A young woman in her early twenties, fresh as a bud about to blossom on a branch, showing none of the timidity she once had by his side.

In fact, George River had thought about keeping her close to him in the past, but Hannah Winter was then too introverted, someone who couldn’t hold back her tears at the slightest harsh word, not fit for the public eye. Gradually, he had abandoned the idea.

Keeping her was like nurturing a reasonably pretty pet.

But now, Hannah had changed. She was not just someone he wanted to keep by his side, but also someone he wanted to love, regardless of everything.

"What’s the point of telling me all of this?" Hannah said lazily, her laugh delicate, "I love money, and I can earn it on my own. If worse comes to worst, if Arnold Simmons truly falls from grace, I’ll support him. I’ve been kept before, and I’m actually quite curious to try keeping someone for a change."

Holding the man’s gaze squarely, she saw the rage in his eyes, and her own sparkled with laughter, like fireworks exploding in the night sky, scalding upon touch.

George River’s eyes darkened, he took a deep breath, soothing the anger in his heart, "I can help you with the script issue, but you have to agree to do something for me."

The room was stiflingly hot, and outside, the wind and rain showed no sign of letting up, hammering against the clear glass windows with a startling, muffled force.

Hannah relaxed her body, the extensive cutouts in her clothing allowing her back to contact the wall completely, the cool air seeping into her body, letting her comfortably ease her brows and eyes.

Her languor was like that of a cat stretching in the sun, even her look at the man carried a feline pride, her voice soft, "I have better options, why should I seek you out?"

As she spoke, she smiled again, a smile as light and faint as sunlight scattering on the surface of a lake.
