Chapter 838: Chapter 838: Stop Being Persistent
He was even ready to apologize, but before he could finish his words, Jack Stewart, who was waiting on the side, suddenly walked over with a grave expression.
Before Hannah could ask what was going on, Jack grabbed her wrist, intending to take her away.
Matthew Quach, of course, stepped in to intervene.
Jack at first thought Matthew was someone’s child and was about to shoo him away when he saw a familiar face, "It’s you."
Matthew frowned, "You know me."
"There’s no time to explain," Jack looked back at Hannah, "Come with me first, I’ll have someone send the kid back home."
Jack looked truly urgent.
But in the end, he was still one step too slow.
George River had already walked over.
Between the grass and the playing children, he approached like a devilishly captivating and imperiously domineering president, his expression indiscernible from afar.
But his thoughts were probably along the lines of "Woman, you cannot escape the palm of my hand."
Jack spat out in disgust, "Like a bad penny, you turn up everywhere."
George River’s gaze passed over the young and the old, focusing directly on Hannah, "I need to talk to you."
Holding a kite in one hand, Hannah glanced at him, her expression indifferent, "I don’t want to talk to you."
George River frowned and was about to move closer, "Hannah."
Jack intervened, "Mr. River, can’t you understand what Hannah is saying?"
The voice was familiar, and it only took George River a moment to react.
His face could hardly be described as pleasant, "You’re Hannah’s manager, the one who swore at me over the phone last time?"
Jack did not deny it and got straight to the point, "Mr. River, don’t you think your behavior is very much like that of a sasaeng fan? If you’re not familiar with the term, I don’t mind explaining it to you."
Having previously experienced Jack’s sharp tongue, George River knew he couldn’t out-argue him. Moreover, quarreling in public was a loss of face, so he could only suppress his anger.
"Hannah..."
"Uncle, my sister doesn’t want to talk to you. Don’t keep pestering her," Matthew intervened.
Jack rarely showed a look of approval towards Matthew.
George River only glanced at Matthew, then turned to Hannah. His tone became more conciliatory and cooperative, "Hannah, can we please have a proper talk?"
Hannah thought for a moment and then nodded in agreement.
But her hand was still being held by Jack, and she could only pat the back of his hand reassuringly.
Jack reluctantly let go, cautioning George River with a stern look, "Mr. River, I am sure you haven’t forgotten how you treated Hannah before. Since you chose to give up then, even if you’ve realized your mistake now, I hope you don’t shamelessly come back. Otherwise, I can’t guarantee I won’t get physical with you next time."
When he said this, his demeanor was a far cry from the soft facade he usually put on; instead, he carried an aura of capability.
Having finished his piece, George River did not retort for once.
George River followed Hannah to a large tree nearby.
The man bowed his head, his usual aloof and unapproachable aura gone, replaced by a wholly conciliatory and submissive demeanor.
Matthew watched for a while before diverting his gaze, then looked at Jack, who was fuming with indignation, and asked, "What’s the relationship between my sister and that man?"
Jack, still angry, kept his gaze fixed on the two, looking ready to rush over at any moment. Only upon hearing Matthew’s question did he regain his composure slightly.
Grinding his teeth in hatred, "George River is an idiotic moron @#¥%..."
