Chapter 791: Chapter 791: Leaving Soon
If a stranger was to see this, they would certainly mistake it as Hayes Edwards bullying Louis Snyder.
Hayes, pulling Hannah along, hurriedly left. As he did so, he couldn’t resist grumbling, "In this day and age, even innocent people are classified by gender. That’s terrifying. It’s a good thing there are no reporters here, otherwise it’d be another mark on my checkered past."
Louis turned around to look at the departing duo. The light stretched their shadows, as if he could reach out and capture them.
"You see, she will leave sooner or later. Who really cares about a madman?"
The wind carried his voice to a corner.
A slight echo emanated from that corner.
Louis hooked the corner of his mouth upwards, his smile eerily cold.

At the farewell banquet, the village chief was busy ingratiating himself with George Quach, showering him with flattery.
However, when he turned to his nephew, Benjamin Wilson, his expression darkened and he spoke in hushed tones, "Have they found that little wretch yet?"
Benjamin, anxious and unable to conceal his worry, replied hurriedly, "Uncle, I’ve looked everywhere. I’ve even considered searching the mountains. But I haven’t found a trace of him."
"You incompetent fool! You can’t even handle such a simple task!" The Village Chief burst out angrily. Seeing George Quach glance their way, he hastily put on a smile to greet him, "Director Quach, how have you been enjoying your time here? We owe you so much..."
Once Benjamin saw them strike up a conversation, he called a few people to continue the search and prepared to depart.
As he reached the door, he saw Hannah and Hayes strolling up together and he couldn’t help but rush forward to greet them. "Miss Winter, you’re only arriving now?"
Hannah noticed several villagers trailing behind Benjamin and asked, "Where are all of these people going?"
When Benjamin saw Hannah, he was like a moth to a flame, unable to resist her allure. He didn’t attempt to hide anything, "That little wretch we caught escaped, so we’re off to search for him. Miss Winter, please be careful. That boy is far from normal. I’m worried he might hurt you."
His face a swarthy, honest-to-goodness look, his choice of words, however, were distasteful.
Hayes frowned, wanting to lead Hannah away.
"Little wretch?" Hannah raised an eyebrow with a smirk.
His words, however, left Benjamin feeling rather queasy and he started stuttering, "The... the one who bites people... isn’t he... a little wretch?..."
Having said the last three words, Benjamin felt a wave of relief wash over him. He quickly gathered his group and left.
Hayes, puzzled, asked, "Who is he talking about?"
Hannah was about to say something when she shook her head, "It’s not important anymore."
Hayes didn’t pry any further. After all, they were returning tomorrow, and everything in this village would no longer concern them.

When they departed at daybreak, it was raining in the mountains. The fog made everything blurry, like a fractured corner of a glass pane. Despite this, the view was still picturesque.
Times were peaceful.
The one who came to fetch Hannah was Jack Stewart. He was currently packing Hannah’s things in her room.
Matthew Quach stood watching Hannah from the doorway, not advancing or retreating, maintaining a distance.
Until Hannah finally noticed him and waved at him.
After some hesitation, Matthew finally approached, "When are you leaving?"
Though they were both leaving today, there were still differences in departure times.
Hannah reached out and ruffled his hair, which, unexpectedly, was soft. "In a while."
