Chapter 758: Chapter 758: Truly Envious
He then glanced at Jackie Qualls, who was practically out the hospital door, a meaningful smile dancing on his lips. "What a coincidence, Mr. Qualls is here too."
Jackie Qualls stepped forward. The cold and distant look in his eyes that he usually held for others vanished, even his voice had softened a lot, "Hannah."
He stretched out his hand, which appeared to be just a cordial greeting.
They say life imitates art, and this was even more true for Jackie Qualls, a renowned actor.
Even though the place was full of onlookers, nobody would find his behavior at all abrupt, let alone discern the deep connection between the two.
Hannah glanced down, subtly raised her eyebrow, and had no intention of refusal.
However, before her hand reached his, Louis Snyder, who had been silent for a long time, suddenly spoke up with an unusually affectionate tone, "Sister."
He walked over and stood next to Hannah.
The seemingly innocent young man showed a hint of hostility in his eyes as he faced the man across from him, "Mr. Qualls, considering your relationship with my sister, it’s probably better to keep a certain distance, right?"
The words were innocently said, as if he were a "good little brother" thinking of his sister’s well-being.
Jackie Qualls withdrew his hand, his smile unaltered. He seemed unaware of the young man’s hostility, paying attention only to Hannah.
Hannah, however, had turned her attention to Louis Snyder, her eyebrows curving as she softly said, "My little brother is so considerate, thinking of his sister."
Louis Snyder seemed to miss the deeper meaning in Hannah’s words and instead lowered his head, leaning his own closer like a large dog begging for a pat.
Hannah ignored him, and a look of hurt instantly clouded Louis Snyder’s face, his foggy eyes looking pitiful.
She laughed softly, "Stop it. Mr. Qualls is here. No matter how good your acting is, you can’t fool his eyes."
"Right, Mr. Qualls?" She looked at the man in front of her, laughing.
Jackie Qualls gave a faint smile and looked at Hannah with affection. His hand in his pocket caressed itself, and it was only then that he realized where the young man’s hostility came from.
He began to seriously observe the boy in front of him. He may have been young, but his eyes were filled with hostility and stubbornness that didn’t match his age. Although he had an extremely deceptive face and loved to play the fool, there’s no wonder he had been mistaken before.
Withdrawing his gaze, Jackie Qualls spoke with a gentle voice, "It seems my worries before were unnecessary. You seem to be in a very good place on the show."
Hannah sounded a bit smug, "I’ve always been okay. Your worrying was unnecessary from the start."
Jackie Qualls gave a slight laugh, his tone gentle, "I just couldn’t help but worry about you. It’s always better to see for myself."
He said it lightly, but to the public, an actor of his stature agreeing to appear on a web variety show was quite the "humble" move.
Or perhaps it could be said that he was trapped by his emotions and lacking what he desired.
Looking at the two who were making polite conversation, the young man’s aura seemed to be dropping rapidly, like it could freeze at any moment, his innocent eyes now darkened like the inky night sky.
He suddenly spoke, "Are the relations between sister and Mr. Qualls good? I’m envious."
His words carried a pointed meaning.
Louis Snyder finished speaking then raised his head to look at the man in front of him, there was no longer any need to hide the hostility in his eyes as he replied in kind, "That’s right, I recall Mr. Qualls confessed his love for my sister once. It’s just that he was subsequently rejected."
This final sentence was spoken slowly and softly, as if he wanted to remind Jackie Qualls of something.
Unfortunately, to his disappointment, Jackie Qualls maintained his composure throughout.
