Chapter 742: Chapter 742: Underground Romance

Hannah tugged a bit, but when she failed to break free, she let it be, "You came in without making a sound, are you planning to do something bad? Where’s my watchdog?"

She looked around, did not see Golden Lotus, but did not pay much attention to it, probably went out to play on its own.

"What watchdog?" Hayes Edwards looked confused, belatedly understanding. He released his grip.

Hannah shook her head, moved to sit on the side, "It’s nothing."

Hayes finally regained his senses, looking at the person seated across from him, "I did make a sound just now, you just didn’t hear it."

Hannah lifted her eyes, a sense of bewilderment mirrored in those clear pupils, "Did you?"

The words he was about to say suddenly stuck in his throat, and even the voice of Hayes slowed down, he felt somewhat wronged, "Who were you talking on the phone with? You didn’t even notice when I came in."

From the tone of it, it seemed like a man.

Hayes started to imagine things in his head, quietly looked over, and happened to meet Hannah’s gaze, that soft, tender laughter was intoxicating to see.

Her stage makeup was more intense than usual, nearly sophisticated to every inch, the glare of the room lighting casting down on her made her look as if she was standing on a cloud.

He murmured curiously, "Could it really be the magic transformation that occurs when a girl turns eighteen?"

Hannah handed him a glass of water, asking, "What does ’the magic transformation that occurs when a girl turns eighteen’ mean?"

Holding the water glass, Hayes took a sip, he was about to say something, but then shook his head, "Nevermind, it’s not important if you cannot recall it, it’s nothing serious anyway."

It’s been so long, it’s not strange if she forgets.

He tried to console himself, shaking off that pang of sorrow from his heart, as he remembered something, "By the way, were you just with Jackie Qualls?"

Hannah didn’t deny, "You saw us?"

Hayes, "Not only did I see, others saw as well. There were even people discussing whether you two are secretly dating."

After all, in the public eye, Hannah accepting Jackie’s high-profile chase is a given, maybe they are secretly dating without everyone’s knowledge.

Of course, Hayes does not think so.

Listening to the question, Hannah, immediately denied without a second thought, "Absolutely not, there is no secret relationship."

Hayes let out a sigh of relief, "I knew it was only him who was willing, what a human-faced beast. How could I not see that during our show recordings? He is well aware that you are a rising idol, but still put on such a huge fight, deliberately making it difficult for you, right?"

In the end, though it was confirmed to be a unilateral pursuit from Jackie, the massive fans would not see it that way. Whether Hannah rejected or accepted, she would still be gossiped about.

If she accepted, she would be labelled as someone who uses connections, and even if she was incredibly talented, her accomplishments would be attributed to Jackie.

Even if Hannah rejected him, she would still be criticized by intentional netizens for being haughty, having too high standards, or deliberately stringing someone along.

Who would put the person they sincerely liked in such a difficult position on purpose?

Hannah leaned back against the chair, the tip of her toes lightly tapping the floor, her voice flat, "Exactly, if you can understand all of this, how could he not?"

He’s just trying to force her to agree in a different way.

That’s why she disliked Jackie the most.

Hayes thought Hannah was upset, he scratched his head, awkwardly trying to comfort her, "Actually, you don’t need to be sad, the internet is full of brainless trolls, you don’t need to take their words to heart..."

He paused mid-sentence, and it was a while before he began to speak again.
