Chapter 728: Chapter 728: It won’t go that far

Lucy Taylor, standing to one side, was thoroughly confused, but she had a faint notion of what was happening. The good mood she had enjoyed from receiving the gift was completely ruined.

Despite everything, Sunny Lee still didn’t accept Hannah’s gift. This made Lucy furious, snatching up the present and seething, "If she doesn’t want it, then I’ll take two!"

Sunny Lee bit her lip, turned her head, swiftly apologised to Lucy, and then ran towards Tiffany Lynch and her group.

Lucy was stunned, and about to chase after her, but was held back by Hannah. She turned around, eyes wide, "What are you doing? I need to ask her what’s going on! Haven’t I been good to her all this time?"

Hannah spoke calmly, "I’ve said all that needs to be said. This is her own choice."

She looked up and saw Tiffany Lynch looking their way - her eyes full of gloating - as she spoke to Sunny Lee.

Sunny Lee didn’t dare to look back, her face slightly relaxed while the others were laughing around her. Their laughter, however, was tinged with a hint of hypocrisy.

Unbeknownst to her.

Lucy Taylor was livid. She had always treated Sunny Lee as a close friend, sharing every good thing with her. Yet, she never thought she would encounter such a situation.

The nine-person team, Tiffany Lynch somehow managed to align herself with the other two involved in the vote-rigging, and now they were united with Sunny Lee.

The other three, apart from Hannah and Lucy, solely focused on themselves, making sure not to offend anyone.

Lucy slowly calmed down, but was still somewhat furious, "I’ve been wondering why Sunny Lee’s been acting up recently, always hanging out with Tiffany Lynch’s group. Whenever I wanted to talk to her, she always seemed impatient. Turns out, she had chosen her side. I was so foolish to actually consider her a friend."

She laughed self-deprecatingly. She could not describe how heartbroken she was. After being nice to a person for so long, the sudden blow made her feel both angry and upset.

Hannah looked at her and jokingly asked, "Are you going to cry?"

"There’s no need. She’s not worth my tears." Lucy stared at Hannah, "You don’t mind me opening this present, do you?"

Hannah nodded, "As you wish."

A dark blue gift box, with a beautiful silk ribbon, the packaging was even more exquisite than the last.

As Lucy unwrapped it, she could not resist commenting, "Seems like you treated her better than you did me. It’s a shame, she’s not appreciative. Your good intentions..."

Before she could finish her sentence, she opened the gift box. She looked surprised and mumbled, "So, you knew all along!"

The box was empty, nothing inside. It had been empty from the beginning.

That’s why Hannah brought back only one gift at first.

Hannah reached out, lightly touched the empty gift box, and shook her head, "I guessed. It’s hard to fathom human hearts, but in the end, it’s all the same few thoughts. Turns out I was right once again, that’s good."

She smiled slightly, without a hint of sorrow, probably she had anticipated it all.

Lucy didn’t have Hannah’s ability to see the bigger picture or intelligence. She sighed, somewhat lamenting, "Actually, Sunny Lee used to be quite adorable. Unfortunately, she’s been getting increasingly impatient since she got on the path. Lately, she barely participates in the daily dance practice."

Upon speaking those words, she forced out a bitter smile.
