Chapter 705: Chapter 705: Finding Fun

There was a dark bundle squatting at the doorway, a mess of unruly hair atop its head. Dressed in old ragged clothes and a face so dirty, its original features were indistinguishable. However, its pair of eyes were bright and black.

The assistant director of the show reacted, covering her nose and hurriedly shouting, "Quickly, get him out of here! What are you all doing standing there, we can’t delay the shooting."

The production team had rented several courtyards outside the village—rather remote, but today they were in the village, borrowing a vacant house from the local villagers.

They just hadn’t imagined they would encounter a beggar in the village, one who seemed to have a mental issue at that.

Two of the strongest crew members were selected, each armed with a wooden stick, intending to drive the man at the doorway away.

Watching as the two men approached him, Vincent did not retreat but rather advanced closer. His eyes instantly became fierce, a stark contrast to his normally silly demeanor in front of Hannah.

He supported himself with both hands on the ground, his leg muscles tightened as he vigilantly eyed the two men before him, huffing out noises as if to warn them to back off.

He didn’t seem human, more like an untamed beast.

The two men exchanged looks, feeling a bit unnerved as they gripped their sticks tighter.

Vincent grasped the ground, peering past the crowd to Hannah at the center. Assuming that Hannah had been captured by these people, he instantly became enraged, baring his teeth and preparing to charge forward.

The two men with wooden sticks panicked, just about to swing their weapons when a woman’s voice by their ears said, "Wait."

Instinctively, they pulled back their force. But Vincent had already darted forward without a care.

Just as he was about to knock the two men over, Hannah made her way through the crowd and shouted, "Vincent."

The formerly mighty Vincent, at the sight of the girl’s clear gaze, immediately calmed down and cautiously came over.

Before he could take two steps, he was stopped again. His instincts told him to attack, but he was held back by Hannah’s light slightly admonishing look.

Hannah spoke: "I know him, let him come over."

"But..."

Both men were hesitant, but seeing Hannah’s insistence, they could only step aside, their vigilant gaze stayed on Vincent, ready to take action at any moment.

But ever since Hannah appeared, Vincent’s focus remained solely on her. A hint of confusion and longing in his eyes, he mumbled somewhat vaguely, "Vincent ... came to find Hannah ..."

He paused for a moment, thought of something, and curled up his mouth corners to reveal a stiff grin, showing his big white teeth, "Play."

His laugh was a bit silly.

Hannah lowered her head to meet his gaze, a smile on her lips as she extended her own hand, "Come on, I’ll take you to something fun."

His eyes lit up, his instinct to reach out for her soft pale hand, but seeing the filth on his own hands, he withdrew.

Pulled his hand back, rubbed it vigorously, "Dirty."

Hannah didn’t mind, her hand still extended, "I do not care, hurry up."

Vincent was still hesitant, but recalling what Hannah had said the night before, despite his internal conflict, he eventually reached out to her.

Very soft, like a cloud, but clouds didn’t have warmth or fragrance, all of which Hannah possessed.

Very sweet, like a piece of candy he’d picked up during the New Year’s festival.

He had tucked it in his pocket for a long time, not willing to eat it until the weather got too hot. The candy melted, soaking his entire pocket. He was sad for a long time, he could only use his fingertip to taste the sugary liquid.
