Chapter 664: Chapter 664: There are People
The house where Hannah lives is just one of them, it comes with a courtyard, its fence haphazardly stacked with mud and bricks.
Perhaps this is a demonstration of the locals’ simple lifestyle.
Matthew Quach pushed open the gate of the courtyard to leave.
The wooden door creaked, as if startling something. A black shadow flashed through the roadside bushes, quickly disappearing from sight.
Matthew thought his eyes were playing tricks on him, but looking closely, under the dim street light, he could indeed see an ambiguous figure that quickly slithered back into the roadside shrubbery.
The figure disappeared completely.
But even so, it startled George Quach.
The production team of nearly a hundred people started searching around, fearing any ill-intentioned person hiding nearby.
By the time Hannah came out, George had already fetched the village chief.
The village doesn’t have surveillance. Although the production team had many cameras, they hadn’t been set up yet, and the drones were put away early for final inspection.
So the only one who had seen the strange shadow was Matthew.
Old Wilson, the village chief, stroked his beard and tried to downplay the incident, "Perhaps the kid was mistaken?"
Matthew frowned, refuting, "I saw it very clearly, there was definitely someone."
Old Wilson chuckled and didn’t respond.
He clearly wasn’t taking Matthew seriously.
Matthew was very angry, his face stern, his expression considerably cold.
Hannah came over to pull him to her side.
Matthew who initially wanted to resist, relaxed his clenched fist at the sight of Hannah and raised his head to ask, "You believe me, don’t you?"
It indeed was a person, although they could not make out the face, their panicked demeanor implied malicious intent, especially since they were lurking outside Hannah’s house.
Although there were other people in the yard, Hannah was the only girl.
Hannah, having already showered, was wearing a jacket with her loose and damp hair draped over her shoulders. Her complexion was clean, her gaze clear as melted snow, she smiled and replied, "Yes, I believe you."
Matthew’s face finally softened.
Seeing this, George Quach spoke in a reassuring tone, "Hannah, you should go back, I’ll assign more people to watch over you tonight, so you don’t have to worry."
Hannah nodded, "Thank you."
George turned back to continue speaking with the village chief, Old Wilson, who laughed it off, clearly not taking the matter seriously.
They simply speculated that it might have been someone’s dog running around, as many villagers owned dogs. Or perhaps an animal had come out of the woods to forage.
The matter remained unresolved.
Knowing he wouldn’t get anywhere questioning further, George could only allocate additional watchmen by himself.
Once everyone had left, the smile disappeared from Old Wilson’s face. Seeing his nephew still dazedly watching the direction Hannah had left, he lost his temper, "I told you to keep an eye on her. Where is she now!"
Benjamin Wilson quickly lowered his head, his tone unconcerned, "Uncle, it’s just a fool, why bother so much."
Old Wilson took a puff of his cigarette, watching the crew heading into the courtyard, "What do you know. Less trouble is always the best. These people are here to pay us. You should really pay more attention when it comes to the God of Wealth, you know?"
Benjamin nodded repeatedly, acting bashful and honest, "I got it, Uncle."
Old Wilson was still fuming.
The two headed back, and on their way, Benjamin seemed to remember something, "Uncle, you said that the fool is also from the city, could someone from the production crew recognize him?"
