Chapter 617: Chapter 617 Probably True
Blurry illusions, even upon waking, she couldn’t distinguish the dream from reality. All she remembered was her distinctive faint fragrance, as if a budding rose, a scent that invaded one’s senses.
The assistant entered the room.
George River looked up, "Did you keep an eye on her, any news?"
The assistant nodded, seeming somewhat uneasy, but said, "The internet is exploding with rumors about Miss Winter and actor Jackie Qualls."
George’s hand, which held a pen, faltered, his face immediately darkened.
He couldn’t forget her.
This was something he should have admitted a long time ago.
When did this begin?
Maybe it was that time when he returned to the villa alone, looking at the empty room, reaching out to receive the warm tea that wasn’t there. His heart felt bare as if someone had cut a piece away.
He thought with time, his wounds would heal naturally. After all, he already had someone he loved, whom he had waited for, for five years.
But, the moment he saw her laughing delicately in another man’s arms, his supposedly healed wounds were torn open, the newly healed flesh stripped away.
Even his every breath was laced with pain.
He comforted himself, thinking that Hannah was only dating Arnold Simmons to spite him, it was just a façade. But even when the man died, she never came back to him.
He had undoubtedly lost. Yet he couldn’t stop himself from following all her movements obsessively.
As a member of a popular girl group, he didn’t even have to seek information specifically; he could see her news daily on the trending list.
She was still there, just not exclusively his anymore.
He thought as time passed, Hannah would forget Arnold, but he forgot something.
In the world of entertainment, with numerous beautiful creatures, it’s easy to be dazzled, especially for someone like Hannah Winter.
He collected himself, "Are you sure the news is true?"
The assistant pondered before answering, "A photo of them at a hotel room door has emerged. However, there is no other evidence..."
"But what?" George gave the hesitant assistant a cold glance.
Feeling flustered, the assistant lowered his head, "Neither of them has come forward to deny the rumors, and everyone knows with Jackie Qualls’ character, if he doesn’t say anything, it’s likely to be true."
The assistant could only blurt out the latter part in a trembling voice.
Jackie Qualls.
George found the name vaguely familiar. He remembered Tiffany Lynch mentioning it; they knew each other from early on.
He once considered Jackie a potential romantic rival.
Back then, it was because of Tiffany Lynch, but now...
George looked up at the time; it was now eleven in the evening.
Compared to the unverified online rumors, only the people involved would have the definitive answer.
However, as George was preparing to rise after long deliberation, he was startled to realise that ever since they broke up, he had no idea where Hannah stayed.
The villa he gifted her was now dust-ridden. The plants on the window sill, once meticulously cared for, had wilted, only the withered leaves remained.
It was then he understood that Hannah never once returned.
He waited for Tiffany Lynch for five years. Hannah Winter was with him for exactly two years, nearly half that time, she was the only one beside him.
After he drove her away, he was left alone.
Lately, he kept wondering what if when Tiffany came back, he hadn’t chosen to rush to her side?
