Chapter 610: Chapter 610: Why Question Others

Jimmy Simmons was always the last to arrive.

Thinking back on that day, it seems almost laughable.

Despite his engagement, he had believed the words of Tiffany Lynch, his so-called ’best friend’, even going so far as to help Simmons deal with another man.

What a pity — it was a crushing defeat.

If given a second chance, Jackie Qualls never purposely dug up any information on Arnold Simmons. He thought he had escaped from the nightmares of his past life. All he wanted to do was stay by Hannah’s side and leave with her.

However, he never thought that one day, Hannah would get involved with that man.

He sighed deeply, taking a serious tone, "Hannah, he might not genuinely care for you."

Hannah nodded, curling her lips into a smile, "Hmm, this isn’t the first time I’ve heard that."

Jackie was taken aback.

Hannah continued, "I find it odd, a group of people who themselves are reluctant to express genuine feelings, dare to question others’ sincerity. Moreover, why does my business concern you?"

Did it concern him?

Her last words pierced Jackie’s heart. Overwhelming grief came crashing down, making even breathing a painful chore, "Hannah, why won’t you believe me?"

Believe that in this world, only I genuinely care for you. We are made for each other.

Jackie wasn’t aware of the news about Arnold Simmons’ unexpected death. He didn’t remember such an event happening, so he naturally assumed that Arnold Simmons was still alive.

Hannah sighed, looking into Jackie’s dark, passionate eyes. She chuckled a little, not intending to sound serious, "Jackie, I really don’t like you. Among all these people, I don’t even feel like pretending to have deep feelings for you. But it’s good that you know how to work on your own charm; it saves me a lot of trouble."

Jackie furrowed his brows, clearly not understanding what Hannah was saying.

Hannah had no intention of explaining. Noticing the time, she stood up, ready to leave.

Jackie remained seated, silently observing Hannah’s movements, his silhouette appearing somewhat desolate.

Since when had the universally-admired Jackie Qualls looked so lonely?

Upon noticing this, Hannah sighed and took a couple of steps back. She leaned on the table and amusedly asked, "Jackie, have you ever regretted anything in your life?"

He looked into her strikingly clear eyes and saw his own reflection.

However, it was blurry.

He said, "Yes, it’s you."

But not in this life, it was in the last. But you would never believe it.

I truly waited for you for a long, long time, clinging to those shattered memories, always remembering the sweet, shy smile you showed me — so pure and full of goodness.

Eventually, I found you again. But that smile is gone. Yet, I...seem to love this version of you even more.

Hannah looked at him for a while, then suddenly chuckled softly, "Jackie, your regret came too late."

With that, she left him there.

They had promised to meet on the rooftop to admire the moon, but a gust of wind blew, and soon, both the moon and she were gone.

Sitting alone under the night sky, Jackie had many thoughts.

Mostly, he thought back to that day at the film set, during a heavy snowfall. Dressed in a bright red outfit, she was dazzling and eye-catching, as if she was the only color in the world.

But in the end, that image was replaced by the faded and helpless scenes of his previous life. It was as if she was never there.

It was all just his imagination.
