Chapter 608: Chapter 608 A Little Bit
Everyone was waiting for Jackie Qualls’ next words without giving it much thought.
Regrettably, they never came.
Because as soon as Hannah left, Jackie, after a few seconds of deliberation, left as well.
He didn’t say where he was going, but in this situation, everyone could guess he was going after Hannah without asking.
With that, the unspoken answers became insignificant.
When Jackie followed her out of the room, he saw the already closed elevator doors.
He worried whether his previous words had scared Hannah, but then he saw the elevator continuing to go upward, finally stopping at the roof.
She hadn’t left.
Then he sighed in relief.
The wrap-up party began at seven and it was already close to midnight, yet everyone’s enthusiasm showed no sign of waning.
The evening breeze was a little chill, scattering the hot air from her face. As soon as she regained some composure, Hannah initiated a video call.
It was answered after just a few rings.
Hannah leaned against the railing, her sweet smile appearing on the screen as she softly called out to the handsome man, "Arnold, have you missed me?"
Arnold had just finished up his work and picked up the call. The first thing he saw was the beautiful face of his girl looking a little tired. He asked her, "Where are you?"
Unable to suppress a yawn, Hannah’s eyes seemed a little teary, appearing somewhat pitiful along with her tiredness. "I’m having dinner with the film crew."
It was a dinner party, so of course they were drinking.
Arnold frowned instinctively, only noticing the faint blush on Hannah’s face as he leaned in closer. Her eyes were glazed and her head lolled slightly as if drunk.
His expression turned colder, "You’re drinking?"
Hannah squinted and made a small gesture with her hand, her voice soft and coy, "Just a little."
But Arnold Simmons was not inclined to believe her ’little’.
Noticing her surroundings resembled a rooftop, he felt a tightening in his chest and his temples throbbed. "Is there anyone else with you?"
Blinking, Hannah leaned closer to the screen and couldn’t hold back a chuckle, "Shh, there’s only us."
All Arnold could make out on his screen, was the plump glossy lips of his girl. Her lipstick was smeared and he was simultaneously amused and worried, "Where are you now?"
Hannah looked around, "On the rooftop, you still haven’t told me if you missed me?"
Before he could answer, the sound on her end suddenly went off.
The screen went dark for a moment and amidst the noise, Arnold feared that something had happened to Hannah. About to make a call, when the next second, a bright moon hung in the night sky appeared on his screen.
Brighter and fuller than at any other time.
Arnold stopped abruptly in the midst of getting dressed.
The sigh from the phone was audible, "Arnold, the moon is so beautiful. It’s just a shame you’re not here."
She added, "Actually, I’m not drunk, just missing you a little."
Without seeing her, Arnold could easily imagine the look of her, about to cry, like something had struck his heart hard.
With one line, Arnold was completely undone.
It was late in the night.
After hanging up the call, Arnold looked at the pile of files on his desk, gently rubbing his temples and quickly made his decision.
Even though he would see her tomorrow, he couldn’t wait even a moment longer.
Hannah had been standing on the rooftop for a while, braving the cold wind. As she turned to leave, she saw Jackie Qualls standing not far behind her.
The rooftop was dimly illuminated.
