Chapter 584: Chapter 584: Involving Feelings
Even clearer than what was available online.
In this investigation, there’s no doubt that Tiffany Lynch is involved. As a newcomer in the industry, she wouldn’t have had the power to bribe producers to sway the votes in her favor. Hence, it’s obvious that her agency is directly involved.
Insiders knew that Prideful Entertainment is a subsidiary of the River Family, but outsiders might not have.
But given the scale of the scandal now, someone was bound to find out.
Old Sir River could allow George River to start his entertainment company, but he wouldn’t tolerate anything that affected the River family’s interests.
George River looked up, took a deep breath, "Don’t worry, grandfather. I will take care of this."
Old Sir River hmphed before taking his seat. He knew he needed to reprimand him, but not too harshly.
His tone softened, "George, I know you’ve always felt guilty about what happened with the Lynch Family, but you must remember, business is just that. It’s about winning and losing, and personal feelings should never be involved. Do you understand?"
George bowed his head, "I understand."
With a tired wave, Old Sir River dismissed him, "Alright, you can leave now."
George nodded, "Take care of yourself."
Old Sir River closed his eyes in silence.
The situation had escalated to the point where it couldn’t be stopped by simply throwing money at it.
Could Hannah Winter alone overturn the long-standing dark secrets in the talent competition circuit? Was that even possible?
No one could provide him with the answer, only a lingering unease.
He couldn’t describe how he felt. Leaning back in the car, George felt drained. He unbuttoned a few buttons at his collar when his phone started ringing.
After a few rings, the driver couldn’t help remind him, "Director River, you have a call."
George remained motionless, he casually asked, "Who’s calling?"
The driver took a glance and replied, "It’s Miss Lynch."
George looked indifferent, and sounded a bit irritated, "Hang up for me."
The ringing stopped.
Then it started again, seemingly relentless.
This time, George answered the call.
From the other end of the line, the woman’s tender voice held a hint of urgency. Though it was subtle, it was not lost on George.
His tone stayed gentle with comforting undertones, though his eyes betrayed no emotion.
Being nice to Tiffany felt like a task to him.
Even as he uttered sweet nothings, all that filled his mind were the tantalizing laughs of another woman.
There she was, leaning against another man, her face flushed, looking coquettish yet her gaze towards him was icy cold.
Hannah Winter.
She even mentioned something as drastic as guarding a man’s grave. Did she really dislike him that much?
The woman who used to be docile around him now put on a different front. At first, he thought it was part of her strategy, but he never expected— it was real.
And the more he realized this, the less he wanted to let her go.
On the day they agreed to meet, Tiffany Lynch could tell that George was distracted.
She deliberately wore a similar white dress to the one she had on when they first met, with just a touch of makeup, and her alluring pair of watery eyes, she looked no different from back then.
As she fondly recounted their past moments, she noticed a familiar tenderness in his eyes. "...Even though so many years have passed, everything seems as if it happened just yesterday," she said, full of sentiment.
