Chapter 583: Chapter 583: Scolding

Tiffany Lynch dialed George River’s number but there was no answer, she then called his assistant only to be informed that George was not at the company today.

Indeed, George was not at the company but was called back to the old house by Old Sir River.

They, as members of these prestigious families, have always looked down on the affairs of the entertainment industry. Even if it appears glamorous in public, it may not necessarily withstand scrutiny behind closed doors.

But if this matter were to involve the River Family, Old Sir River might not be able to keep his composure.

It was evident from Old Sir River’s attitude since this meeting was not in the back garden, but in his study.

Old Sir River was fond of antiques. The furnishings and books in his study were all antiques bought at auctions, even a teacup at hand might be worth a fortune.

This ancient ambiance in the enclosed study was filled with solemnity, especially when Old Sir River was sitting behind the desk without a hint of a smile, which gave a sense of overwhelming power.

Even in front of his own grandfather, George had to restrain himself and lowered his head, uttering respectfully, "Grandfather."

Old Sir River withdrew his gaze from George, picked up a pot of tea by his side.

As tea was poured into the cup, a faint tea fragrance permeated the entire room. The aroma was light and refreshing.

Only after taking a sip of the tea did Old Sir River ask, "How have things been at the company lately?" 𝓯𝙧𝙚𝒆𝙬𝙚𝒃𝙣𝙤𝒗𝓮𝓵.𝙘𝙤𝙢

It seemed to be just a routine inquiry.

George breathed a slight sigh of relief, his tone steady, "Several projects are progressing steadily. Only the project with the Simmons Family, due to their internal chaos, was forcibly halted. We are currently preparing the necessary documentation to seek compensation from the Simmons Clan."

In Arnold’s absence, there was no one to fear in the Simmons Family. They were all just a group of people with no ambition, who could only see immediate gains, fighting over a trivial Quin, unaware that their own company was being invaded by outsiders.

The building shall fall, we shall fear not.

With this thought, a smug satisfaction appeared in George’s eyes.

Regardless, he had indeed avenged Jimmy.

Old Sir River, with just one look, knew what his grandson was thinking. He put down his teacup heavily, "So this is your excuse for messed up affairs now?"

The cup fell on the table, spilling some tea.

A chill passed through George’s eyes as he finally understood.

Since childhood, he had been living under the watchful eyes of his grandfather, demanding perfection in everything, even when he took over the company as an adult - rules and strictures enveloped him tightly, on several occasions leaving him breathless.

Indeed, how could he naively think that he could keep his actions from his grandfather.

He had nothing to say.

Old Sir River hardened his face, imposing without rage, "It seems you’re dazzled by that woman. Among all the industries under the River Family, your entertainment company brings in the least profit. But that’s alright, after all, the River Family doesn’t need to rely on raising some celebrities to make money."

"Grandfather?" George raised his eyes, his voice gradually cold, "Prideful Entertainment is equally my life’s work."

"Your life’s work?" Old Sir River pointed at George as he stood up, "Your so-called life’s work has implicated our family’s assets. Look at it yourself, everyone knows now that the Eldest Young Master of the River Family has gotten involved in a lawsuit over a woman, when have my River Family ever been spoken about like this!"

Old Sir River pounded a pile of documents onto George.

All of them were news reports about the recent "Audition Scandal".
