Chapter 534: Chapter 534: Call it Off

Yet even with his eyes closed, the forbidden scene he had just glimpsed remained etched in his mind, impossible to erase.

"Ah!"

It seemed the young girl was aware of his presence and she instinctively let out a cry, hurriedly grabbing a piece of clothing from the riverbank to cover her chest.

But the soaked cloth did little to hide her form. Instead, it clung to her body, outlining her attractive figure and tempting the onlooker’s gaze even more.

Quickly, the young man removed his own coat and with eyes shut, he used his long sword to hold it out towards her, his voice trembling slightly, "Miss, rest assured, I won’t peek. Please, get dressed quickly."

However, the young man, being new to the path of cultivation, couldn’t help but feel guilty for catching a glimpse of the girl’s half-exposed body.

This was... inappropriate.

"You can open your eyes now, my lord,"

A very soft female voice said, timid and cautious.

Upon hearing the voice, the young man knew he had startled her with his earlier misconduct. Without daring to peek, he bowed his head in apology, "I’m sorry, miss, it was my... it was my transgression that has caused this fear. I have no ill intentions, and if you are willing, I am ready to make amends, to ask for your hand in..."

The final word fell from his lips like a burning chestnut, impossible to swallow, yet impossible to spit out.

Seemingly charmed by his distressed and dumbfounded demeanour, the young girl laughed lightly, "My lord, you haven’t even looked at me yet. If I am unsightly and plain, would you still wish to marry me?"

"Rest assured, miss, I do not judge people by their appearance..."

Before he could finish speaking, a frail figure came into view and in an instant, he was left awestruck.

Her black hair, damp from the water, clung to her delicate neck, catching the moonlight and casting a glow on her pale and fragile face like a pearl wrapped in gauze, softly beautiful. Water droplets rested on her long eyelashes, and her eyes shone brightly as if washed by snow water.

She was delicate and beautiful, reminiscent of a hidden lotus in a valley, that made one breathe lighter.

Even though she was tightly wrapped in her clothes, it did nothing to prevent the imagination from wandering.

Yet, upon meeting her innocent and clear gaze, these thoughts felt like sacrilege.

This beauty, it was hard to distinguish-if it was part of the play, or beyond it.

It only took one frown from her to send his heart into disarray.

The hand gripping the long sword clenched and unclenched, unable to stand the turbulence in his heart. Ultimately, Jackie said: "Hold on."

Everyone looked over at him.

Even Tiffany Lynch subconsciously straightened her body, her hand clutching the armrest so tightly that the piece of fabric was crumpled.

The play halted and everyone hurriedly began to clear the scene.

Jack Stewart quickly grabbed a towel and rushed over to Hannah, throwing it around her. There was clear worry in his eyes, "You’ve been submerged in that cold water for so long, yet the actor still..."

Hannah gently rubbed her wet hair, her eyes full of satisfaction masked by amusement, "But can you blame him? It’s not surprising that he couldn’t resist my beauty."

Jack Stewart shook his head helplessly, "What on earth do you think about all day?"

Hannah: "Of course, I think about how to captivate everyone."

Jack sighed, his face full of helplessness.

But Hannah was right. From the moment she stepped on the stage, no one in the room could take their eyes off her.

Indeed, she portrayed a young girl’s panic and innocence to perfection.
