Chapter 484: Chapter 484: Read More Books

Everyone in the booth just wanted to enjoy the drama, caring nothing about who you are.

May Hoffman hadn’t expected that things would end up involving her, even as she kept up her polite smile despite feeling uncomfortable, she muddled through it.

She didn’t dance, nor sing.

Things died down.

Hannah picked up her wine glass, took a lazy sip. Her gaze -- indifferent and casual --touched everyone’s heart like a gust of wind.

Beauty lives in skin, elegance lives in bones, a charm that May Hoffman could never learn.

She tried to emulate Hannah’s style, but ended up looking a bit awkward, especially under Hannah’s influence.

Halfway through the dinner, someone got drunk.

No matter the truth, more than half of the people were gone.

Lucy Taylor, looking to leave, subtly sent Hannah a message, without drawing attention.

Sitting on the side, Sunny Lee anxiously asked, "What did Hannah say? Are we leaving?"

Lucy Taylor just handed her phone to Sunny.

There were only seven words on it.

"You go first, don’t worry about me."

On the other side, Hannah was effortlessly dealing with everyone.

"Miss Winter, does your fan club need more members? Not to brag, but I’m pretty wealthy. Anything you fancy, I can buy for you!"

"Miss Winter, don’t listen to him. My family runs a jewelry business, I know the ins and outs."

"Miss Winter, I’ve already joined your fan club. How can I become your superfan?"

A group of investors who initially wanted to get a taste of the action had all become Hannah’s number one fans, treating her as they would their own mothers, and dare not have any ulterior motives.

Hannah propped her cheek on one hand, her gaze lazily swept over the fawning crowd, and she smiled gently, "You know, I love being complimented."

The crowd nodded in understanding.

Despite a lack of literary eloquence, they kept repeating the same flattery.

Hannah, tired of the flattery, suddenly admonished them seriously: "’Everything else is trivial; only knowledge deserves the highest status.’ Even though this statement is somewhat radical, the fact remains that books are the ladder of human advancement. If all the young people in the future only know how to indulge themselves and waste their time as you do now, who will be responsible for the development of this society?"

The crowd instantly felt ashamed, "Miss Winter is right, we should read more good books!"

Hannah nodded satisfiedly, "That’s right. Through lifelong learning and good reading habits, you will be able to praise my beauty using more elegant phrases."

The crowd nodded in agreement, decided to pick up the Chinese knowledge that they had neglected for many years.

Right, classical literature ought to be read more frequently.

Miss Winter should prefer this type, shouldn’t she?

May Hoffman on the side just gawked, and she almost forgot what was really important.

She could only squeeze into the crowd with her wine glass, receiving cold glances from people on the way.

They were probably blaming her for interrupting Hannah’s speech.

May Hoffman didn’t look good, but she still tried to put on a warm smile, "Hannah, may I toast to you?"

She held two wine glasses in her hands, both filled with red wine.

In the dark lighting, seen through the transparent glass, it had a vivid, bloodlike color.

As May Hoffman met Hannah’s eyes, sparkled with smiles, her hand tightened slightly holding the glass. She couldn’t help but urge, "Hannah?"

Someone volunteered, "If Miss Winter doesn’t want to drink, let me drink for her!"

He said while reaching out for the glass. Still, May quickly avoided him.

Another person chimed in, "Why should you drink for Miss Winter? It should be my privilege!"
