Chapter 369: Chapter 369: Believe in Me

Hannah quirked an eyebrow, but before she could reach down to pick up the object, Jackie Qualls beat her to it.

She didn’t mind, standing up straight and looking at the man in front of her, "I didn’t expect Mr. Qualls to have a habit of collecting girls’ personal items."

The accessory in question was one that Hannah had worn before going onstage that day.

Jack Stewart had given her a large bag full of them before they came to record.

His attitude at the time was somewhat resentful, "Since you can’t wear the short skirt, you can at least wear a few pretty hair clips, right?"

But in reality, Hannah had barely worn them during the recording sessions because it was inconvenient during her training. It wasn’t until her performance today that she suddenly remembered about them.

Jackie Qualls, for his part, held onto the hair accessory tightly and clearly had no intention of returning it.

Hannah didn’t care. She waved her hand, "Forget it, it’s yours."

Just as she passed by Jackie Qualls, Hannah felt a sudden tightness around her wrist. Before she could react, she was pushed against the wall.

It was a blind alley, with only the moon above and a distant street light, nothing else around.

Hannah extricated her wrist from Qualls’ grasp, a frosty demeanor taking over her face, "What does this mean, Mr.Qualls? It’s not broad daylight, but this isn’t exactly appropriate either, is it?"

Her chilly tone caused the gentle mask Jackie had adopted to completely shatter, "Hannah, why do you have to behave so distantly with me?"

Hannah looked at him, "And why not, Mr.Qualls? Are we very close?"

All in all, they had only truly known each other for about a month.

Her glistening eyes were as cold as the moonlight, evoking deep feelings of sorrow in Jackie’s heart, it was all too clear in his gaze.

His normally clear and warm voice now sounded all too husky, "Hannah, you don’t understand, I just want you to know that I am the only person in the world who would never hurt you."

He paused for a second, his tone sincere, "You can trust me."

He was not lying.

There were too many people in this world who wanted to hurt Hannah, just like in her previous life, when she was trampled upon for loving the wrong person.

They were all pitiful beings.

Only he, truly understood Hannah. As for the others, anyone of them might hurt her.

All except him.

Their gazes met, and a ripple of emotion passed across Hannah’s eyes. Her lips slightly parted in surprise, as if taken aback by Jackie’s veiled confession.

Her curled eyelashes fluttered, and she lowered her gaze. A faint blush rose on her cheeks, "Jackie..."

Just hearing like the soft autumnal sound of her voice seemed to stream right into Jackie Qualls’ heart. His eyes immediately softened, "Hannah, do you..." still love me too?

Before he could finish, a gentle push at his chest cut him off.

Despite its seeming lightness, the push sent Jackie stumbling backward.

Even then, he managed to maintain his composed demeanor, his gentle aura pulling at people’s heartstrings.

Hannah crossed her arms, her face now devoid of any embarrassment or tenderness; instead, a mischievous smile gleamed in her eyes. "Jackie? I heard Tiffany Lynch calling you that, so I thought I’d try it. It seems you really like it, don’t you?"

Jackie was taken aback and hastily began to explain, "Hannah, my relationship with Tiffany Lynch isn’t what you think."

"Stop," Hannah cut him off, "What do I care who you’re close to? I just hope, Mr. Qualls, that you won’t say things that can lead to misunderstandings again."
