Chapter 289: Chapter 289 You Dare to Hit Me
Hannah smirked slightly, her voice hinting at a bewitching allure. Her eyes were as deep and quiet as the ocean, revealing malicious intent, "You’ve had so much before, you’ve taken everything for granted. You probably never knew what jealousy tasted like, did you? It must be unbearable to be stepped on by someone you once despised?"
Everyone has a dark side. When times are good, you can unashamedly flourish in the sun. But once you encounter adversity, your true colors are laid bare.
This is the inherent depravity of human nature.
There’s no such thing as a perfect person.
As she met Hannah’s gaze, Tiffany Lynch felt a chill down her spine. She clenched her teeth, "What is there for you to be proud of? You’re just scavenging for something I’ve discarded, aren’t you?"
Hannah shook her head. "Miss Lynch, you once said, ’you can’t covet what isn’t yours’. But I’ve also said, that phrase suits you more,"
Tiffany’s eyes widened. Her voice grew colder, even tinged with madness, "But all of this was supposed to be mine!"
As she looked at the smiling figure before her, she felt something inside her growing, threatening to obliterate her feigned elegance and superiority.
She was the admired Eldest Miss, beautiful, intelligent, and well-educated. Everyone would praise her.
A true privileged lady, born to enjoy the good life.
But why, why did Hannah Winter have to take all of this away.
Watching the person on the verge of collapse before her, the smile in Hannah’s eyes deepened. She said slowly,"Miss Lynch, you see, the Hannah Winter of the past would lose herself when she couldn’t obtain what she desired. How different are you from her now? Human nature is fundamentally evil, isn’t it better to face your true self?"
"No, it’s not like this." Tiffany shook her head, her eyes filled with terror.
The pain from her cracked nails brought back her last shred of sanity. She glared at the radiant smile on the woman before her, staring into the eyes, "It’s you, it’s you who forced me! If not for you, the center stage would have been mine. I should have been the one in the spotlight, Hannah Winter, you’re just a low-born, how dare you?!"
The commoners, the lowly-born, why should they compete with her?
Instantly, without any hesitation, she raised her hand towards her face.
Her smile twisted in mockery, using all her strength.
The next second, a crisp slap echoed in the empty corridor.
Everything went black before her eyes, all she could hear was a buzzing noise in her ears.
Tiffany incredulously touched her own face, staring at the person in front of her, in disbelief, "You dared to hit me?"
Hannah looked at her, her voice filled with amusement, yet chill, "I know my beauty has made you jealous, but I didn’t expect you to be this cruel, intending to disfigure me, Miss Lynch, I’m really not pleased."
The last sentence was almost gritted out, word by word, between Hannah’s teeth.
Hannah took her face very seriously, she would not allow anyone to attempt to harm it.
Not even herself.
"Do you know how long I’ve been avoiding late nights in order to present my best self on camera? I don’t eat spicy or sweet food, all for fear of my beautiful face breaking out into pimples, but how dare you touch it, it’s unforgivable!"
Hannah was dead serious.
She was genuinely angry now.
Tiffany, clutching her swollen face, looked at the person across from her, her anger escalating, "What the hell is wrong with you, I’m the one who got hit!"
