Chapter 232: Chapter 232: Many Vicissitudes

"Why is my sister here?"

Hannah blinked, "Just here for a meal."

Isn’t a restaurant a place to eat?

Louis Snyder realized this a bit late, feeling somewhat embarrassed, but underneath it all, there was a touch of anger.

She wasn’t telling the truth.

Here to eat?

With whom?

James Landon, that so-called musical genius? The one who has never been the subject of any scandal and tends to focus solely on his songs?

Huh.

Louis smirked quietly to himself, while maintaining a bright and innocent smile on his face, "Shouldn’t you be recording a show at this time, sis?"

Hannah nodded without directly answering his question, "What are you doing here, filming? Hasn’t Falling Spring stopped filming?"

The girl tipped her head back slightly, her eyes were full of a faint amused expression, the light touched those eyes, it was like moonlight falling on a still lake, always giving people a sense of quiet comfort.

Louis was slightly taken aback, thinking of his current situation, he felt a hint of heat rushing to his face.

He should have been playing the victim to Hannah Winter himself, hoping she could fetch some resources for him.

After all, he had done this countless times before.

But this time...he hesitated and subconsciously didn’t want the person in front of him to know about his present state.

Neither did he want her help.

Such a thought took root in his heart like a seed, causing both pain and torment.

It was as if he had been split into two personalities.

One personality told him that he should utilize Hannah Winter without hesitation, just like in the past, exploiting this woman who relied on him, taking advantage of her ignorance and foolishness to achieve his goals relentlessly.

Wasn’t that what he used to think?

But now...

He could only feel the burning pain from the wound on his back which Hannah Winter had once touched.

It was like a healed wound being forcibly torn open again, skin and flesh separated, blood pouring, the pain spreading to his heart, making him lack the courage to even look at the person in front of him.

He was unable to utter the words that he had long prepared to portray his current tragic circumstances.

It seemed Hannah was extremely patient, seeing Louis not reply, she just lightly sighed, stretching her hand and put it on his shoulder, she could feel the boy’s body stiffen, but she didn’t mind, "Louis, have you been having some troubles lately?"

Her words were gentle, and her shimmering eyes were filled with faint heartache and concern.

This was the look Louis hated the most.

He didn’t need someone else to care about him, that would make him feel like it was some kind of charity.

That was the last thing he needed.

Feeling the warm touch on his shoulder, Louis remembered the bloated, greasy woman from the office that day, and he felt like throwing up.

But the faint, pleasant fragrance at the tip of his nose eased his queasiness.

However, he still removed Hannah’s hand, "No, I’m fine, Hannah."

"Really?" Hannah moved forward a few steps, seemingly helpless, "But you look really worn out, there are dark circles under your eyes, even your skin isn’t as good as before. It seems you’ve aged a lot."

If it weren’t for Hannah’s soft voice, and earnest words, and his own understanding of her, Louis would really think Hannah was mocking him.

But even knowing that Hannah really cared about him, Louis couldn’t help but feel his face stiffen, and that harmless smile faded, "You’re joking, Hannah. I just haven’t gotten enough rest recently."
