Chapter 1280: Chapter 1280: River Clan Crisis

Hayes Edwards had still been calling out that he would come again next time as he left, asking to keep the trash for him.

Hannah saw him to the door, waving goodbye to everyone and watching them walk away before returning to her room.

Arnold Simmons texted her, saying he had just gotten off the plane and was already on his way.

Hannah checked the time, took a bath, and then climbed into bed.

After a day of fun, it was only now that she felt sleepy when things quieted down.

When she heard a noise and opened her eyes, Arnold Simmons, fresh from a bath, had just walked out of the bathroom.

He had changed into pajamas and, seeing her awake, came over and sat down by the bed.

"Did I wake you?"

Hannah shook her head; extending a hand from under the covers, she grabbed the hem of his clothing, her voice heavy with sleepiness, "When did you get back?"

Arnold Simmons took her hand and pressed it into his own palm, "Half an hour ago."

Hannah looked at him intently for a while before slowly nodding her head a bit dully.

She didn’t speak further, but pulled Arnold Simmons’ warm, large palm under the covers and held it against her chest.

Like she was holding her beloved toy, her lips curved into a sweet smile.

Her drowsy appearance was both well-behaved and soft.

Arnold Simmons couldn’t help but smile, turned off the light gently, and drew her into his arms.

He whispered, "Goodnight."

The night passed without dreams.

The holidays were not yet over when the River Clan suddenly found itself in a crisis.

George River was directly in charge of the company’s highly-valued South City project, which had encountered severe issues.

Now, the entire River Clan was shrouded in gloom and despair.

No one understood better than they did what the South City project meant for the River Clan.

Especially George River.

Initially, to secure this project, he decided to give up several projects that River Clan was already planning, to redirect more funds into the South City project for greater profits.

South City project.

It was a project that everyone had high hopes for; when the news broke, every major company sharpened their minds to get a piece of the action.

No one wanted to miss such an opportunity.

George River felt the same.

Huge profits always had the power to blind people.

The River Clan had been under the thumb of the Simmons Clan for too many years.

George River wasn’t willing to accept defeat to Arnold Simmons; he wanted to prove that he was no less than anyone else.

Especially Arnold Simmons.

The South City project was his biggest gamble.

Initially, everything was progressing in a good direction, and the early development of the South City project indeed brought significant profits to the River Clan.

Until a problem arose.

George River thought that if he could just solve this not-so-complex issue, everything else would proceed as usual.

However, he didn’t anticipate that the trouble was just beginning.

The issues that followed were like a snowball rolling down a hill, getting bigger and bigger.

At first, George River was still able to handle them, but gradually he realized his own insufficiency.

He simply couldn’t solve those difficult problems.

...

The development of the River Clan in recent years had always aimed for stability.

Especially after being surpassed by the Simmons Clan, many people privately speculated that the River Clan had given up the struggle with the Simmons Clan.

It’s important to note that the rivalry and comparison between the River Clan and the Simmons Clan began with the generation of Old Sir River.

The people of the Simmons Family seemed to naturally possess business acumen.

Arnold Simmons was one of the most distinguished representatives.

In those years, Old Sir Simmons was the same, although his heart was not entirely focused on the development of the company.

Contrarily, Old Sir River was wholeheartedly devoted to his business.
