Chapter 1241: Chapter 1241 Rest Day

The heavy rain had been falling for quite some time, and by the time Hannah got out of bed, everything outside the window was shrouded in white fog, obscuring everything but the downpour.

The room was very quiet, and the space beside her was now empty.

Arnold Simmons had left a note.

He said that he had work suddenly and would be back later.

It wasn’t long before the maid came to knock on the door, asking Hannah if she would like breakfast prepared now.

Hannah sat up in bed, her eyes barely open, her mind still foggy. She preferred to wrap herself in the blankets rather than getting up, "When did Arnold go out?"

It was only when she spoke that she realized her voice was hoarse.

She couldn’t help but cough lightly, silently cursing Arnold as a beast in her heart.

The maid knew what Hannah was worried about and replied, "Sir had just left at six o’clock, before the rain had even started."

Hannah nodded, then burrowed herself back into the blankets, "I want to sleep a little longer. Prepare breakfast after I wake up."

The time was just past eight o’clock now.

Before leaving, the maid added, "Your agent called just now, saying that today’s schedule has been canceled."

Hannah responded quietly and pulled the blankets up a bit higher, practically hiding herself completely.

The maid closed the door as she left.

The room fell silent again, the sound of the wind and rain outside came in bursts, seemingly endless, as dark clouds drifted in from afar, layering heavy shadows upon each other.

The rain fiercely struck the windows, creating a muffled thunderous noise.

The door, which had been firmly shut initially, was somehow cracked open slightly at some point.

It was only for a brief moment before it was closed again.

Unnoticed by anyone.

Half an hour later.

Golden Lotus lay on the table, quietly observing her master’s sleeping face.

Very beautiful.

Golden Lotus thought that her master looked even more beautiful when asleep than when awake.

Because when she slept, she wouldn’t tease it about being bald or shedding hair.

However... even if the master teased it about being bald, shedding hair, and its love for food, it still really liked her.

Hannah wasn’t the first host Golden Lotus had been assigned to, but she was the kindest master to it.

She allowed it its temper, allowed it to shirk duties, and even overlooked its running away from home.

She didn’t mind its stupidity either.

Past masters always cursed it as a "defective product" that couldn’t even handle small tasks and couldn’t help them.

They would complain about it and even physically punish it.

It didn’t like being punished.

Even as artificial intelligence, it still felt fear and pain.

It knew it wasn’t smart and its business capabilities were lacking, always ranking at the bottom in every AI competition.

Other AIs would mock it.

Its chip was old and patched up, constantly being repaired, always on the verge of being eliminated, being destroyed.

But it didn’t want to be destroyed yet.

Golden Lotus stretched a paw and rubbed its nose, its ears droopily hanging.

If it hadn’t met her master, it probably would have been destroyed after this return.

It wasn’t like Big Lang—Big Lang was impressive.

Sometimes, when other AIs bullied it, Big Lang would stand up for it.

Although it didn’t quite understand the meaning of "losing the face of the original system" that Big Lang talked about, it knew that Big Lang really cared about it.

Just like the master did.

By the time Hannah woke up, it was already nearing noon.

The heavy rain outside showed no signs of stopping.
