Chapter 1195: Chapter 1195: Of Course Will Listen

George River’s gaze also carried a warning, clearly dissatisfied with his current attitude.

George knew Jimmy Simmons well, aware that he had always been a stubborn character and that his approach to women had always been to do as he pleased—calling them over when he wanted, dismissing them just as easily.

But Hannah was not one of those women he could casually flirt with.

Meeting George’s gaze, Jimmy Simmons just chuckled knowingly and slowly read out the second half of his sentence, "Otherwise, she might be kidnapped by someone with bad intentions, and it would be awful if she were locked up."

George’s face turned completely cold.

However, Jimmy Simmons remained nonchalant, mockingly raising his hands in surrender, "My bad, I misspoke."

After he finished, he looked towards Hannah again, his lips curling up, "Auntie surely wouldn’t mind, right?"

Hannah glared at him, "If I minded, would you shut up?"

Her furrowed brows indicated she was troubled.

Jimmy Simmons’ fingers paused, the cigarette burning his fingertips to the end, but he crushed it out without changing his expression and smiled, "Of course, I would listen to what you say."

It was a simple phrase that, coming from Jimmy Simmons without that so-called designation, seemed to carry an unclear and indescribable meaning.

George furrowed his brows, feeling something was off but unable to pinpoint what exactly, allowing Jimmy Simmons to leave before him.

As Jimmy Simmons passed by Hannah, he deliberately slowed down his pace and lowered his voice, "If you need anything, just call out. I’ll be waiting outside for you."

Hannah ignored him, but Jimmy Simmons wasn’t annoyed and left with a light laugh.

Only George and Hannah were left on the balcony.

The banquet hall was stuffy, especially with the mix of alcohol fumes and various perfumes making it even more oppressive.

Hannah had chosen to come out because she was unwilling to stay inside for too long.

It was about time for her to leave as well.

The cool night wind blew over her, the early spring air carrying a soaking chill.

George looked at the ring on Hannah’s hand, his lips twisting in an attempt to smile, but couldn’t, feeling agitated inside, "Engaged?"

Hannah casually wrapped her arms around herself, a hint of a smile in her eyes, and responded lightly, "Mhm."

In reality, the question was meaningless.

The news of Hannah’s engagement to Arnold Simmons was already known across the net, even people who rarely went online would have heard about it from those around them.

The word had already spread throughout the circle; this time Arnold Simmons was serious.

He was truly going to marry her.

Who could have imagined that Arnold Simmons, who had always appeared indifferent and cold to others, would one day do this.

He had lifted a young girl to the skies.

George had heard these comments more than once, initially finding them laughable, but now he could no longer laugh.

His voice somewhat unsteady, "Hannah Winter, are you serious?"

Hannah pretended not to understand and chuckled, "What’s serious or not serious."

Tonight, the wind was blowing; the sky was devoid of moonlight or stars, pitch-black, with only a bit of light seeping from the banquet hall behind them.

The shadows were blurry, falling completely into the eyes of the person in front.

George watched her intently, took a deep breath, and steadied his emotions, "You and Arnold Simmons?"

Hannah looked at him and questioned, "Would I joke about this kind of thing?"

The relationship was real, the engagement was real, being together was indeed real.

Who would spend three years acting out a play just to get back at someone?

At least Hannah wouldn’t.
